5.0 out of 5 stars A Hidden Gem, November 1, 2003
By A Customer

Watch out for this guy at the Nammy's. I was listening to a Joanne Shenandoah album (gotta love her!) when I first heard Lawrence Laughing sing. My immediate response was, "Who **is** this, how many albums has he got, and have I got enough money to buy them all right now?" So far, this is the only album of his that I know of. Come to find not only is he a lovely singer with gentle harmonic sensibilities and great subtlety, but he's also got very clever instrumental arrangements in this album.

Being half Chiricahua, the 'can't we all just get along?' and 'let's be friends' vibes on this album resonates with particular intensity for me. But it's those sentiments that automatically make this album for absolutely anyone of any race or cultural background. Trust me. Just get this over with and put it in your shopping cart.

I first heard Lawrence Laughing on a Joanne Shenandoah CD and was thrilled to finally have him come out with his own CD. He has a deeply resonant voice and turns each song into a spiratual experience. Can't wait for further releases.

I too, first heard Mr. Laughing on Joanne Shenandoah's CD Orenda. I was very much taken by his style and also kept looking forward to his release of a CD. I can honestly say I feel, after listening to his singing, that "NOW ARE MINDS ARE ONE." Mr. Laughing, thank you so much for sharing your gift. "Ke io ki ono waharakon"

5.0 out of 5 stars Indeed, our minds are one., November 24, 2008

I echo the other reviewers who were enchanted with Lawrence Laughing's tender, warm singing on "Orenda," with Joanne Shenandoah (another sweet and serious album, by the way). Avoiding the electronic haze of Native American New Age style with purely acoustic arrangments, but maintaining that soft, mellow buttery sound, this album is wistful. It acknowledges and gives thanks. It touches our heart. I love it. Supporting musicians are Tom Wasinger and Mark McCoin, whose instruments provide perfect accents and evocative timbre to the songs.
