5.0 out of 5 stars San Francisco under a groove and Suphala are great!
This album has some nice vocals with breakbeat, and represents a nice fusion of world elements and electronica.

The album, San Francisco under a groove also has great rare artists like, Tetris, Will Felt, Irina Mikhailova, Superbacana, etc. Really good new jazz, breakbeat electronica. Enjoy.

What they do in the name of fusion? I bought this CD because I like Zakir Husain in the planet drums. She uses all big names in vain. She is just a pretty face and should go into modelling

4.0 out of 5 stars The tabla Rocks! Suphala is da bomb!, September 16, 2007

I'm not sure how I heard this music. I think I was surfing amazon after I had listened to and put The Cosmic Game by the Thievery Corporation in da basket, and came across this. If you're into like, ethnic drumming and stuff, like Richard Feynman's approach to drumming, like Pancho Sanchez and his approach to conga's (though he could tone those horns down a little, sorry trumpet guys) and like the deep rich background of the electronic background, then you should lend an ear. There's just one song that kind of baffled me, sounded like a bunch of instruments being tuned in and out of tune, but it only lasts for about a minute. I'm sure there's a reason for the inclusion of that...that's artistic license.

I ran across Suphala by accident and enjoyed the clips I heard. I love the CD though it is completely different from anything in the rest of my collection. I highly recommend it for your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suphala The Now, February 26, 2006

If you like Indian classical music, if you like modern rock jam - bands, the you will love this album from Suphala.
Mixing in Hindu-Stani rhythms, with modern jazz fusion, and studio sound effects, the result is an album both honoring the past, and reaching towards the future. Excellent musicianship, Suphala is the Larry Coryell of the tabla.
