Talk about a rush job!,

This review is from: Now That's What I Call Music! 3 (Audio CD)
Being a huge fan of this series, I was excited to hear about a new collection.I immediately ran to the store to grab a copy, but upon picking it up I noticed right away there was only 10 songs!I'm sure we all remember 18 on the last. This is a very dissapointing collection.Half are great, three are ok, and there is two that are horrible.Save your money kiddies and find it used! Lets just hope Volume 4 will be better because lets face it,It can't be worse.

3rd Time Not Such a Charm,
By Mike Scullin (Philadelphia, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Now That's What I Call Music! 3 (Audio CD)
Well, we all loved the first two "Now"'s. They had a large number of tracks, as well as great selections, and a good variation of genres. Unfortunately, "Now 3" does not follow in the footsteps of its predecessors. With a limited selection of ten tracks, it gives you no more than 35 minutes of listening. Also, unlike the first two "Now" releases, "Now 3" offers no variation in genre. Genre listing- R&B- 5 / Rock- 3 / Pop- 1 / House- 1 / And the biggest mistake- Rap/Hip Hop- 0. Do they have any idea how many people won't buy this record because hip hop is not represented even once? The people who selected the tracks for "Now 3" must be the same people that run the three major networks. So this Christmas, don't bother buying "Now 3." Stick to the originals.

Now 3 is a good CD with lots of worthwile songs. All Star - Smash Mouth B+ The song has a good tune and ok lyrics. American Woman - Lenny Kravitz B+ Fun song. Great tune pretty good lyrics. At the end the lyrics get fuzzy. What's My Age Again? - Blink 182 A- Great tune and good lyrics. The song is 2 minutes and 28 seconds long. Bailamos - Enrique Iglesias C Good tune but not good lyrics. Too many Spanish words. Sometimes - Britney Spears B- The lyrics aren't that great. Good tune. All I Have To Give - Backstreet Boys B Good Lyrics but Not so good tune. Tell Me It's Real - K-Ci & Jojo C- Worse lyrics than Sometimes and not a good tune. Hey Leonardo (she likes me for me) - Blessid Union Of Souls A Second best song in the CD (next to Nookie)! Great lyrics Great tune. Why I'm Here - Oleander D+ Boring song. GOOD VARIETY,
By Aaron (Ohio, USA) - See all my reviews

Definately better than Now 2,but not as good as 1 and 4,this CD does offer a nice variety, though. My favorite tracks are "All I Have To Give","If I Could Turn Back the Hands of Time","Sometimes" and "Bailamos." Rock is represented to with the great head-banger song "Nookie." A great buy for some variety.

Here's the full list of tracks: 1. All Star - Smash Mouth 2. American Woman - Lenny Kravitz 3. What's My Age Again? - Blink 182 4. Bailamos - Enrique Iglesias 5. Sometimes - Britney Spears 6. All I Have To Give - Backstreet Boys 7. Tell Me It's Real - K-Ci & JoJo 8. The Rockafeller Skank - Fatboy Slim 9. Nookie - Limp Bizkit 10. Special - Garbage 11. If I Could Turn Back The Hands Of Time - R. Kelly 12. Get Gone - Ideal 13. Chante's Got A Man - Chante Moore 14. Hey Leonardo (She Likes Me For Me) - Blessid Union Of Souls 15. Why I'm Here - Oleander 16. Happily Ever After - Case 17. The Hardest Thing - 98 Degrees 18. Out Of My Head - Fastball Not bad, but check "Now 44" in the Search section for the British equivalent in this series. It has Mambo #5, Blue (BaDa Dee), ..Baby Hit Me, Larger Than Life, If I Could Turn Back the Hands of Time, That Don't Impress Me Much, Kiss Me (6pence NTR), & many more including 4 solo Spice Girl tunes. And the price isn't that much more. Or if rock is your thing, check "Big Shiny Tunes 4", a Canadian import. Not a weak track on the album. No Backstreet Boys either.

A good rock and roll compilation,
By Alexander Nordquist (Cary, NC USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Now That's What I Call Music! 3 (Audio CD)
Now That's What I Call Music Vol. 3 was the very first rock album I owned. The main reason I bought it was because of Fatboy Slim-The Rockafeller Skank. That was the theme song from the computer game I own Fifa 99. Me and my friend Aaron used to love that song and it was my favorite on the album. Now I'm starting to get kinda board with it since I've heard it so many times. All in all, this rock compilation is pretty much worth the money. The first song, "All Star" by Smash Mouth is a great rock song. Because of that song I went ahead and bought the album Astro Lounge and I've always loved listening to it! I have never really liked the song "American Woman" by Lenny Kravitz but it was much better than the version by the Guess Who. But I loved the song "I Belong to you"[which is on Now 4] and that's why I own the albums: 5, and Lenny Kravitz Greatest Hits. "What's My Age Again?" has also always been one of my favorites. I own the cassette of their album Take Off Your Pants And Jacket but I never liked it that much. But some songs from them are great! Here are my other favorites: Bailamos, Special, If I Could Turn Back The Hands Of Time, Hey Leonardo[she likes me for me] and Out Of My Head. I think I am probably going to listen to this compilation for many years to come and I suggest you look into it too!

Generally Good!,

I recommend this CD to everyone exept Fatboy Slim fans. Why? Because they would be dissapointed (as was I) that "The Rockafeller Skank" was cut from 6 mins 56 secs. to 3 mins 27 secs! (without a "Radio Edit" or "Edited" label on it, might I add). Other than that, great CD! Nice variety of songs, but any song from the Hip-Hop genre is yet to be seen!

Not An "All Star" Album,
By C. Shafran (College Park, Maryland United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Now That's What I Call Music! 3 (Audio CD)
After a lousy second entry, this "Now" isn't much better. The second one suffered from dull songs from known artists. This one suffers from dull songs from dull artists. After starting off with the big smash "All Star", there's not much else. 1. All Star-Smash Mouth's infectious smash hit which led off the movie "Shrek". "Now 8" should put on their remake of "I'm a Believer". (5/5) 2. American Woman-I normally don't like remakes, but Lenny Kravitz does a good job on this one. (4/5) 3. What's My Age Again-The not-so-punk band Blink 182 has fun in this short ditty. The video was a scream. (4/5) 4. Bailamos-A good bilingual dance tune from Enrique Iglesias (3.5/5) 5. Sometimes-An unmemorable Britney ballad. (2/5) 6. All I Have to Give-A somewhat dull BSB ballad. How come "Now" didn't put on "I Want It That Way"? (2.5/5) 7. Tell Me It's Real-A okay K-Ci & Jo Jo ballad. (3/5) 8. The Rockafeller Skank-Another fun Electronica entry from Fatboy Slim. (3.5/5) 9. Nookie-Definitely the most hardcore "Now" entry, the only "Shock Rock" entry. Is this really about Fred Durst's affair with Christina Aguilera (which got Eminem in a hissyfit)? (3.5/5) 10. Special-Not "Special" at all. Garbage's rather boring rock track. (2/5) 11. If I Could Turn Back...-One of R. Kelly's better ballads. (3.5/5) 12. Get Gone-Now I'm starting to fall asleep. Who is Ideal and where was this and other songs on "Now 3" on the Billboard charts? (1.5/5) 13. Chante's Got a Man-Again, who is this artist? (1.5/5) 14. Hey Leonardo-One of the better "Now 3" tracks,a fun rock song. (4/5) 15. Why I'm Here-You tell me. Another crashing bore from an artist no one's heard of. (1/5) 16. Happily Ever After-Another yawner. Who is Case? (1.5/5) 17. The Hardest Thing-One of 98 Degrees' better ballads. (3/5) 18. Out of My Head-Pretty good short ditty from Fastball. (3.5/5) This disc must've been rushed into production to compete with the first "Totally Hits" album, which was full of big hits, many of which were nominated for Grammys. "Now 3" has no Grammy nominees and is more filler-laden and falls far short of "Totally Hits" and most of the other "Now"s.
