CENSORED,
By A Customer
This review is from: Now That's What I Call Music! 7 (Audio CD)
When I first listened to this C.D. I thought my CD player was broken. Many of the songs sound like an old vinyl record "skipping" because of the extensive censoring of the songs. Words which apparantly someone found offensive are literally cut out of the song. Nellie's "Ride Wit Me" is especially annoying to listen to since it contains numerous "skips". Most of these songs are played on the radio uncut so I see no reason for the extensive censoring that took place. If you like any of the songs on this CD and are used to hearing them on the radio you are going to be very disappointed.

The best Now CD!!!,

This review is from: Now That's What I Call Music! 7 (Audio CD)
Keep in mind I'm writing this review over a year after the songs were popular...1. Survivor - Destiny's Child 2. All for You - Janet Jackson 3. Baby Come on Over - Samantha Mumba 4. In My Pocket - Mandy Moore 5. Play - Jennifer Lopez 6. The Call (Remix) - Backstreet Boys 7. Playas Gon' Play - 3LW 8. Ride Wit Me - Nelly 9. Danger - Mystikal 10. Fiesta - R. Kelly with Jay-Z 11. Let Me Blow Ya Mind - Eve with Gwen Stefani 12. What Would You Do - City High 13. Don't Let Me Be the Last - Britney Spears 14. This I Promise You - N'Sync 15. Never Had a Dream... - S Club 7 16. Hanging By a Moment - Life House 17. Jaded - Aerosmith 18. From My Head to My Heart - Evan & Jaron 19. Flavor of the Weak - American Hi-Fi Probably the best on the CD! It's rock but not hard rock. I LOVE IT!!! This is probably the best CD in the Now! series, but since it's old, it's not my favorite CD. So...I don't know if that helped but it's worth a try :)

Better Than Average NOW,
By Chris S. "cscotts" (atlanta, ga United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Now That's What I Call Music! 7 (Audio CD)
Volume 7 of the NOW! series contains the familiar representation of bonafied hits(Janet's 'All for You', Eve's 'Let Me Blow Ya Mind'),moderate hits(Aerosmith's 'Jaded','NSync's 'This I Promise You'), shoulda been hits(Mandy Moore's 'In My Pocket', Samantha Mumba's 'Baby Come On Over'), and hits that should have been tossed in the garbage after their initial recording(Lifehouse's 'Hanging By A Moment',Nelly's 'Ride Wit Me'). The rest of the cd is filled out by average to subpar radio fodder, much of which didn't even make it on the radio. Still, this remains one of the better volumes in the series.

Most of the Best of the Year,
By J. Martin "ffej26" (Woodside, NY) - See all my reviews

This is one album that you will play over and over again. Now 7 has put together the best of the year in na compliation that has something for everyone. From rap, pop, rock, and r&b Now 7 picked the hottest hits in each genre. I am more a pop fan so I was excited to have hits like In My Pocket-Mandy Moore, Samantha Mumbas Baby Come Over, This I Promise You-Nsync, and Never Had a Dream Come True-S Club 7. I do have all of these albums though so what I was really excited about was that I was able to get hits like Let Me Blow Ya Mind-Eve and Gwen Stefani, Hangin By a Moment-Lifehouse, and Jaded-Aerosmith. All excellent songs that I would not by a whole album for. I give props for Now 7 for creating such a diverse musical selection. One problem-so many songs that radio played the heck out of I wanted to skip-such as Survivor-Destiny's Child and Ride With Me-Nelly. But overall not one bad song on this collection.

NOW #7 STARTS OFF STRONG THAN FALLS APART,
By
This review is from: Now That's What I Call Music! 7 (Audio CD)
Now #7 is out and was able to defeat N Syncs "Celebrity" for the Number 1 position on the album chart this week 8/18/2001.The CD starts strong with cuts from Mandy Moore the unchartable (why?) fantastic middle-eastern dance fuse "In My Pocket", Jennifer Lopez "Play" which only peaked at No.18 on the Billboard Hot 100, 3LWs "Playas Gon Play", Evan & Jarons unchartable "From My Head to My Heart" and Lifehouse's "Hanging By A Moment", however the CD falls apart with the overplayed and worn out "Jaded" by Aerosmith, the nauseating "Danger" by Mystikal, Britney Spears boring-dismal ballad "Don't Let Me Be the Last"- give me Debbie Gibsons "Foolish Beat" anytime before this trash, and the TRL worn out single of N Sync "This I Promise You". However this compilation is better than #6 but still falls short, they need to put more songs that haven't been retired by radio by so many plays i.e. (J.Jacksons "All For You"), but it is refreshing to see Mandy Moores "In My Pocket" on here, which still eludes me why this song did not catch on at radio or dance clubs. Her album is beyond the teen dismal norm. Still #7 is a good try, better than #6 and I recommend it for J.Lo, Mandy Moore, 3LW and Evan & Jaron just because these songs didn't get much airplay and they are like fresh new songs.

Now 7,

Now 7 is a good CD with all the hits of 2001. It has a great combination of pop, r&b, hip-hop, and rock. Here are my reviews and ratings of the songs:1. Destiny's Child - Survivor - One of the year's top hits. It's a good song, but too overplayed. (4/5)

Worst "NOW!" cd yet...,
By ohenrybear "ohenrybear" (Rochester, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Now That's What I Call Music! 7 (Audio CD)
As an owner of all the NOW! cds, I have found this one the most disappointing. The cd definitely has its good moments and tracks, but overall I don't understand how some of the songs made it on here. I think of the NOW! cds as being a good representation of what has been popular in the music industry lately. I like having a lot of various genres on each cd as long as each song really was a hit. Like the album says "19 chart-topping hits" ... that's hardly true with this volume. Sure, we have huge hits and/or artists here like: Destiny's Child, Janet, Jennifer Lopez, Nelly, R.Kelly, Eve w/ Gwen Stefani, City High, S Club 7, Lifehouse, Aerosmith, and American Hi-Fi (which I have just started to hear getting some airplay). The rest of the cd, though, is pretty much all fillers with songs that most definitely were not "chart-topping". These include: Samantha Mumba (some airplay, never made Top 40), Mandy Moore (I don't even remember this one getting any airplay and if it did it couldn't have been much), Backstreet Boys (popular group - unpopular song, never made Top 40 I believe), 3LW (made it to #81 on the Hot 100 - again hardly what I call "chart-topping"), Mystikal (old song - had forgotten about it), Britney Spears (not a horrible song, but did this one even get any airplay?), *Nsync (popular group - popular song, but very old by now. This one should have been on NOW!6 instead of the equally-old by then "Bye Bye Bye"!), and Evan & Jaron (another not bad song, but it is so freakin' old by now. It has been around since summer of 1999 for those of us who own the "Runaway Bride" soundtrack. I have also never heard this on the radio). So I feel this is the first NOW! cd to let me down. It's about 50/50 good/bad in my opinion. I would like to see the NOW! cds to continue to really only feature the chart-topping hits and not unknown/weak fillers. Since it is obvious what labels contribute to this series, where were these obvious admissions from NOW!7 : Shaggy (Angel), Nelly Furtado (I'm Like A Bird), Case (Missing You), Ja Rule (Put It On Me), Train (Drops of Jupiter), Joe (Stutter), and Crazy Town (Butterfly)??? These were just some suggestions that I feel, if had been included, would have made NOW!7 a much better album and value for the money. I still will look forward to NOW!8 later this year, but also hope that the next volume will return the series back to the standard of quality that had been established with volumes 1-6.

Vol. 7,
By Damian Gunn "The Dark One is I" (I am everywhere) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Now That's What I Call Music! 7 (Audio CD)
Now we're getting somewhere...As you may already know from my previous reviews of the 'Now!' series, I feel that it's a nice way to remember the yesteryears, but as we roll into 'Now! 7' we're getting a glimpse of the not so distant past, songs that we may still hear from time to time on the radio and such. Songs like 'Ride Wit Me' or 'Survivor', Mistikal's brilliant anthum 'Danger' (which I just heard on the radio last night), 'Let Me Blow Ya Mind' and Lifehouse's biggest hit 'Hanging by a Moment' are all heard on the radio to this day.
Laced though with not so common hits, 'Now! 7' still has something to offer to those who are looking for a blast from the past. Samantha Mumba (where is she now) delivers a song we can all remember tearing up the airwaves ('Baby Come on Over') and Mandy Moore gives us another great track with 'In my Pocket' which I don't remember as well as some of the other tracks here. Never was a fan of Janet's 'All for You' or J. Lo's 'Play', heck, or even Destiny's Child's 'Survivor', but they all have their place in the memory of yesterday right. I actually like 'The Call' and this remix by The Neptunes is off the hook. There is some ballads that maybe should have been avoided, most notably Britney's 'Don't Let me be the Last to Know' and S Club 7's 'Never had a Dream Come True' which is just irritatingly cliche. I always liked N'Sync's 'This I Promise You' but even that may have been beter suited for another CD. The real gem here though is City High's 'What Would You Do?' which is a song I almost forgot about. It was such a good song back in the day, and even now, listening to it for what feels like the first time I'm left with the same feeling. Great song, great sound and great message. Yes, I agree that the constant editing of the songs is annoying...I just really with they'd pick songs that don't have to be edited, but I doubt they ever will. These rap songs (like the awful crap R. Kelly and Jay-Z delivered) is too popular with today's generation for them to get avoided when putting together these CD's. Oh well, it's something we all have to deal with to get what we want, if this is indeed what you want.
