4.0 out of 5 stars now 14 ...uh it's okay
Now 14 isn't the best of the now series because it doesn't have the best songs.Ther are probably only 12 good songs on this cd.I think the problem is that there is way too much rap and r&b in this cd,they should've had more pop and hip pop.So far my favorites are black eyed peas, thalia, fountains of wayne, ,liz phair, stacie orrico, beyonce (of course), Bow wow,...

4.0 out of 5 stars Now 14..., November 4, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Now That's What I Call Music! 14 (Audio CD)
Now 14 is one of the best "Nows" in later years. They actually put the most popular music from different genres on it. Plus, I've actually heard of all the songs before. Great mix of hits!
Some suggestions for Now 15:
Me Against The Music - Britney Spears Featuring Madonna
Get Low - Lil' Jon & The East Side Boyz
Hey Ya! - Outkast
Bigger Than My Body - John Mayer
Baby Boy - Beyoncé Featuring Sean Paul
The Voice Within - Christina Aguilera
Trouble - Pink
So Yesterday - Hilary Duff

Harder To Breathe - Maroon 5
Going Under - Evanescence
Shake Ya Tailfeathers - Nelly, P. Diddy & Murphy Lee
P.O.D. - Will You

4.0 out of 5 stars Vol. 14, July 18, 2006
This review is from: Now That's What I Call Music! 14 (Audio CD)
Boasting a slur of hits but failing to nail down any real standouts 'Now! 14' falls short of the pack a bit. There are some strong tracks like '(There's Gotta Be) More To Life' by the very talented Stacie Orrico, and even the overplayed 'Where is the Love?' as well as Justin's 'Senorita' but with an overabundance of trash like Ginuwine's horrible 'In Those Jeans' and the overplayed and nausiating 'Suga Suga' by Baby Bash and Frankie J, not to mention Foutains of Wayne and Ataris delivering more and more crap. At least there's Good Charlotte to make up for that.

The rap on this album is a redeeming feature. The ever popular 'Right Thurr' is an album highlight as is offerings by Bow Bow (all grown up) and Murphey Lee. R. Kelly delivers a good if not strange song in itself, but it's easy to get into. Beyonce gives us her debut, the song that launched the most overpublisized and overrated career out there (next to Jessica Simpson) but at least Beyonce can sing.

So there you have it...some up's and some downs but what else do you expect.

1.0 out of 5 stars Why won't this series just end already?, November 8, 2003
This review is from: Now That's What I Call Music! 14 (Audio CD)
To be blunt with it: the collection here is not good. It's terrible in fact. Most songs were terrible to begin with. Hip-hop music has officially died with the arrivals of rap chumps Chingy and Murphy Lee. I suggest sending them back to school to brush up on 2 things: The Book of Run DMC and The Prophetcies of 2pac. Maybe then they will know what true hip-hop is.

The pop and rock hits aren't much better. Justin Timberlake, Lumidee, and even Mya (who I normally like) make flat out embarassing showings here. And just because they have guitars in their hands DOESN'T make them real rock (i.e. Good Charlotte and Fountians Of Wayne)

But the best advice I can still give you is still buy a CD burner and make your own mix. I'm sure that Amazon has ones for sale. Here's quickly how I feel about the songs:

The Good:
Black Eyed Peas - Where Is The Love?
Liz Phair - Why Can't I?
Stacie Orrico - (There's Gotta Be) More To Life
Thalia feat. Fat Joe - I Want You

The bad:
Baby Bash feat. Frankie J - Suga Suga
Good Charlotte - Girls & Boys
Ginuwine - In Those Jeans

The UGLY:
Chingy - Right Thurr
Murphy Lee - Wat Da Hook Gon Be
Justin Timberlake - Senorita
3 Doors Down - Here Without You

3.0 out of 5 stars It's sort of okay...., January 1, 2004
By

This review is from: Now That's What I Call Music! 14 (Audio CD)
At least on NOW standards. They have some good songs here. But most of these are mainstream crap that nobody will be able to stand listening to in five years. And most of the people who love it to death don't happen to have any original taste in music. But hey, this is NOW. Here is my track by track breakdown rating, as though there aren't enough already:

1. Crazy in Love - Decent summer song, gets tiresome, it's already old and it's barely been around six months. (3/5)
2. Where is the Love? - Might just be worth remembering... could be in a good or bad way, I don't know yet. It's decent pop.(4/5)
3. My Love is Like Wo - Erm, it's okay. The most fun I had with this was singing this with my friends, inserting different words in the place of love, kiss, body, etc. and the "wo" with certain noises. Known to us as "The Whoopie Cushion Song." Good, but won't be a classic. (3/5)
4. Never Leave You - The first fifteen seconds was, well, tolerable, but she's annoying. (2/5)
5. Right Thurr - I wish I knew why I like this song. I really do. (4/5)
6. Wat da hook gon be - This is an okay hip hop song, worth listening to if you like this kind of music, I happen to, but otherwise no. (4/5)
7. Thoia Thoing - Why is this even on here? If they absolutely HAD to have R. Kelly here they could have used Step in the Name of Love or something. Not a chart topping hit (1/5)
8. Let's Get Down - Don't tell anyone... but I like this song. (4/5)
9. Senorita - A JT song I can stand (track 2 doesn't count). Nice beat. Not bad. I like the last part of the song too. (4/5)
10. I Want You - Great summer song. Gets a tad annoying, but I like it anyway. (4/5)
11. Suga Suga - Oy. Now this is annoying. I have to admit it's grown on me a little, and if you have the radio on at all you'll hear it all the time, but I still don't like it. (2/5)
12. In those Jeans - Never liked it. It's slow and sappy. (1/5)
13. Walked Outta Heaven - See above comment. (1/5)
14. (There's Gotta Be) More To Life - Typical pop. Don't like Stacie much, but I can see why people like it. (3/5)
15. Why Can't I - I don't like her. Liz Phair sings songs mostly for preteen girls and finds it necessary to insert F words... doesn't work for me. (2/5)
16. Stacy's Mom - The first time I heard this song I thought, "What is this crap?" But it's grown on me a lot. It's not really rock... but it's funny, and a little sick considering the lead singer looks like he's ten years old. It's starting to get old, but still good. (4/5)
17. Girls and Boys - Tolerable at the very least, but I don't like it that much. For anyone it concerns, this is not punk rock. (3/5)
18. The Boys of Summer - I almost like the original by Don Henley better even though it's 20 years old. It's missing something. This is okay, but I like DJ Sammy's better even though it's a whole other type of music. (3/5)
19. Someday - Not my favorite Nickelback song, but it's a good song. I think I'll give it five just because nothing else has yet.(5/5)
20. Here Without You - Question: What is so darn great about this song? When I'm Gone was so much better. Seems like everyone loves this song, but maybe they won't if they keep playing it every five songs. I don't think it's that great at all. BTW, it's almost closer to country than rock, and if you don't think so you never do listen to country music. Some of the crossovers they play are songs like this(I.E. Matchbox 20). Anyway, this song is nothing great, it's getting annoying, enough ranting, period. (2/5)

I won't bother ringing up total points. This has been my typical track by track rating. Hope you liked it. You probably didn't. Bye.
