This review is from: Now Is The Time (Audio CD)
Evenif you're not into Anointed this is the GOSPEL CD OF THE YEAR!!! Now when Mary left I felt in on the later projects and when Nee-C left I felt it on the last project. But on this project you don't miss them at all!!!
Each track is a certified "hit"! God will bless you through this project. PICK IT UP you won't be disappointed!

Anointed strikes Gold!!!,

For me the album is off tha' Chain!!! I'm not saying this because of my unashamed bias of liking every record ANOINTED puts out. It's just a good praise and worship record. It seems that Da'dra and Steve pulled out all the stops for the one. They wrote 10 of the 11 tracks and executive produced this record. What is really remarkable to me is the growth in their lyrics and sound on "Now is the time". I will be the first to admit that when Mary left I thought anointed would be "done for". Then when Ne'cee left, it seemed like the brother and sister lacked something on the "IF WE PRAY "album. "Now is the Time" shows how they have grown onto their own unique sound. They did not try to recapture the sound that was lost when Mary and Ne'cee left. I love all the tracks, but man, the up tempo stuff is soooo amazing "Mighty long way" is awesome. I'm most impressed with the soulful ballads-- there is no song like "the great I am". This song is one of those great inspirational and praise and worship songs. Did I mention that Steve has the most melodious and just angelic sound on the track "Now that I'm Free"? Yeah I'll admit it's a bit too short, but you can always play it again. Anointed has made a Fantastic record, for me this is my must have gospel CD of the year. I'll recommend it to any one; anointed fan or not.

Anointed consistently turns out good to great albums, no matter who is or is not a part of the group at the time. Their songs are always well-written, well-produced, well-arranged, and well-performed.
'Now Is The Time' is one of their good ones. As a prior reviewer mentioned it is balanced with a wide mix of genres that can minister to virtually everyone, and it flows very well. It may not have that certain spark that made their debut album and self-titled 1999 album 5-star projects in my book, but every track here is a keeper and will hold up well over time. This is a job well done and recommended.

I was very much impressed by this latest offering. My only criticism is that it is a little too short for my taste at 46 minutes. Although, with 11 tracks (5 ballads and 6 upbeat songs) it is a well balanced CD. Genre sounding wise, there is enough on it for everyone to get something from it -- whether you like Gospel, Inspirational, or Contenporary Christian Music.
UpTempo Songs: As far as the songs are concerned the remake of 'Jesus is the Lord' w/Andre Crouch is a standout hit. It alone is almost worthy of buying the CD. However, there are others that just "knock" you out too. 'Mighty Long Way' and 'Gotta Move' have enough in them to cross charts into Urban markets. They at least get played twice everytime I listen to this album (maybe because they are both just over 3 minutes, but that is another story). Ballads: 'You are' is by far the best. Simple lyrics but heart felt testimonies, especially the end. 'Eternal Life' and 'The Great I am' are also good. The title track 'Now is the Time' lyrically has pluses and sounds more like it is marketed to CCM markets than Gospel folks. Overall a 4.5 rounded to 5. I would have rather they added another song to round the number of tracks to 12. Isn't that a nice Holy number anyway? I agree with the earlier reviewer that the other members aren't THAT missed on this album. Though they did have sufficient background voices on several of the songs.

I got this album in November in 2005 and when I heard it I was so pleased and amazed I enjoyed every last song on the CD But My Favorites are Mighty Long Way, Jesus Is Lord, Gotta Move, Now Is The Time, and You Are. I would recommenend this CD to anyone in need of Healing.

I gave "Now is the Time" two stars to match the number of selections I liked on this album. If you like Hip-Hop music, then this album is definitely for you, but it is not my cup of tea. I must say this is a big switch from their earlier albums, which were absolutely beautiful, with their gorgeous harmonies and soulful, R&B stylings.
