5.0 out of 5 stars Trivial for DM bootleg collectors, a must have for those not as fortunate to have the originals.
This review is coming from a longtime Dead Milkmen fan who owns the original Now We are 10, (as well as the tapes that make up NWA10) and has a cassette copy of the other two tracks. To the person who stated that the sound quality of the live tracks.... well, the first four tracks are from a self-released tape from 1983. The show is in a barn in Bedminister, PA, 10.22.83...

One is at a party and is just unbearable to listen to. The other recording is from a radio show they did. The radio one is whole lot easier to listen to. My promblem with it is the music is edited. If anything edited music offends me. The only reason I gave the cd to stars is because there the Dead Milkmen. Don't be fooled this isnt a collection of there best material or a greatest hits cd. Go buy there other cds you wont be sorry

The show is in a barn in Bedminister, PA, 10.22.83. It was recorded on a boombox. (i am listening to the full show right now) The next 3 tracks are from another self released tape that was entitled "Death Rides a Pale Cow," which I believe was also from 1983. These are some of the rarest of Dead Milkmen tracks which were compiled onto the NWA10 CD as a fan club release... not intended to be a commercial release. Enough fans wanted this to happen, therefore the Dead Milkmen made it happen. For the old equipment used, and the fact that the source cassettes are pretty old (these are the days before DAT), I think it sounds excellent. I have heard live albums that sound much worse than the live and non-live tracks on this CD. This is basically a collection of rarities and demos.

Now if they could release their 1984 tape "Someons Shot Sunshine."

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty damn good, October 30, 2003

I am so glad to be able to listen to something different from the dead milkmen, even if it is old material. The first few songs aren't quality recordings, but do we really expect Rush quality here? The majority of the disc is from a radio show and the quality is pretty good. I have had this disc in my car for a while now and it is great to drive to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun with a great band, February 13, 2004

Okay, some of the tracks don't have great sound, but how often do you get to hear a band before they became famous? The album begins with live music from a party they played at, and where the sound quality of these songs is lacking, the chance to hear them playing just before hitting it big with their debut album makes up for it. The majority of the album is from their visit to a radio station, playing live versions of Big Lizard material. The in-studio stuff is fanatstic, the sound quality is good and the band is obviously having a ton of fun and Rodney (lead singer) is hilarious as always. The rest of the songs are basically a few B-sides and extra material. "The Shapes of Things" is a gem - I don't know why it never appeared on a previous album, it's a great moving song with a hooky melody. "A message to you Rudy" is cute and it's great to hear the Milkmen take on raggae.

Highly recommended for anyone who likes the Dead Milkmen.

4.0 out of 5 stars DM audio quality, September 19, 2010
This review is from: Now We Are 20 (Audio CD)
The audio quality of early Dead Milkmen recordings is unfortunate but also non-accidental. I remember realizing how bad they sounded on vinyl in 1986. A recording of a gig two years before Big Lizard, reducing the city-boy garage rock to country-barn dancing . . . pure genius. uhh, and ps-- i'm pretty sure the gig in the barn didn't have rows, nor ticketmaster. i'm jus sayin . . .

4.0 out of 5 stars It'll Have to Do, June 10, 2004
This review is from: Now We Are 20 (Audio CD)
For those who had the luck of obtaining a copy of NOW WE ARE 10 through the DM Fan Club, this is the same album with two extra songs and a great insert. I was unsure about buying it, but the two extra songs suckered me in. As I said, the insert is great with different stories from different people about the Dead Milkmen. The song quality varies as the recordings were either home recordings (raw and just beautiful) or recorded when performed live at WXPN in Philadelphia (censored but fun). It rounds out a collection perfectly, and hearing their energy pre-BIG LIZARD is a treat.

This cd is Awsome, it just confuses me, this is another one of those "best hits" cd, the Dead Milkmen have like four of those, so if you like them, buy this cd.

1.0 out of 5 stars This CD SUCKS!!!!!, October 3, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Now We Are 20 (Audio CD)
This CD isn't labeled as a "LIVE" album but it is. It sounds like some douchebag is in the back row at their show with a 1970's tape recorder recording the damn thing. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!
