5.0 out of 5 stars From Now On, Will, The Ultimate Pop Idol
Will Young, the Pop Idol himself, has proved once and for all that he CAN and WILL make it as a genuine pop star. This album is a very mature and entertaining record to listen to, it makes the listener just want to sing along to his amazing harmonies and *twidly bits*. lol.

3.0 out of 5 stars Has great potential
Will Young has an amazing voice. The nation was shocked when he beat (run of the mill singer) Gareth Gates to become the first Pop Idol. His debut album shows great promise with tracks like From Now On, Side By Side, You And I and Lover Won't You Stay. His smooth vocals are easily distinctive and will surely keep Young around for years to come. However, though the...

Will Young, the Pop Idol himself, has proved once and for all that he CAN and WILL make it as a genuine pop star. This album is a very mature and entertaining record to listen to, it makes the listener just want to sing along to his amazing harmonies and *twidly bits*. lol.

Evergreen- The Ballad that made Will. He will never forget this track, the one that propeeled him to fame, and neither will we! (4.5/5)

Anything is Possible- The other A-side of Will's first release. Personally I dislike this one, Evergreen is so much more emotive and this seems to just drift over my head. (2.5/5)

Light My Fire- Will's second realeased single. His voice fits in so well with this song, almost as good as Aint No Sunshine, although that is a fairly hard one to beat, as his voice is AMAZING on that one! A great soulful track, makes you want to have a good sing-a-long! (4/5)

Lover Won't You Stay- A great Sinatra style song, lovely lyrics. Another one to get you singing along. (3/5)

Lovestruck- One of my two favourites off the album. I love the lyrics on this one, they're very fresh and powerful. the song smoothly connects with his voice and range, and he carries it off well. (5/5)

The Long And Winding Road- Although I have gone off Gareth majorly since the Kumars episode....say no more.....his and Mr Young's voices slide in beautiful harmony, and make a great track, not ruining it as critics assumed they would. (4/5)

You And I- I felt very struck when I first heard Will's charity release. It's a lovely track, maybe not as catchy as others on the album but still a nice one. (3.5/5)

Side By Side- Catchy, but unmemorable for me. Nice song, not much feeling in it though. (3/5)

What's in Goodbye- Will has the right voice for this kind of track, and he sounds so lovely on it, he blends in so well. (3.5/5)

Cruel To Be Kind- My joint favourite on the album. What an AMAZING song! So catchy and memorable, I loved it when I first heard it...a highlight of the album. (5/5)

Over You- Swingy, Boppy, but not as good as others on the record. (3/5)

From Now On- An optimistic, looking ahead song, it makes you feel good when you hear it. (4/5)

Fine Line- I disliked this when I First heard it. however, it shows off Will's voice brilliantly, and is very mature, if not catchy. (4/5)

5.0 out of 5 stars WORTH THE WAIT, November 18, 2002
This review is from: From Now on (Audio CD)
Boy was I thrilled to finally get my hands on Will Young's debut album. Will is definitely a star in the making. The first 3 tracks are all I had heard from Will, so I was glad to hear original material.
Music lovers will appreciate Will Young's glorious voice and interpretive style in songs such as U&I and Fine Line. (From reviews I have read of him singing LIVE, he really blows fans away....)
Music like Will's is NOT at all the sugary-sweet pop that we are constantly subjected to here in the States. Despite the fact that he was discovered through a TV talent show, he has a mature talent that other participants of such shows lack.
Thankfully, slow, breezy tunes like "Lover Won't U Stay", "Lovestruck", and "What's In Goodbye" coupled with saucy, jazzy tunes like "Over You" and "Side By Side" are a welcome relief in the over-saturated, talent-free zone of the pop spectrum.
Will's songs are like spending a warm, lovely, summer's day (in mid-November!) with the one you love. Great for chillin' and lovin'.

5.0 out of 5 stars Glorious Voice, Gorgeous Style, January 26, 2004

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: From Now on (Audio CD)
I learned of Will on the World Idol show, and was just blown away by his vocal gifts. In reverse order I bought his latest CD "Friday's Child" which is superb, and then "From Now On". On both CDs he proves just how absolutely stunning a song stylist he is. He uses his voice like a musical instrument, at times actually sounding like a flute trill or sad oboe with his awesome falsetto. This is a gift few vocalists have and is a treasure beyond compare.

#4 "Lover won't you Stay" is drop dead gorgeous. He sings "lets get heavenly". He delivers. Song #7 "You and I" the way he styles this song and lavishes his delivery with riveting passion just knocks me out. He performs this song on his "Will Young Live" DVD, and when he kneels before the audience and pours out his heart it is a heartstopping moment. Will's backup harmonies make his songs so lush due to the multi-layered dimensions in his natural voice harmonics. He is just astonishing.

#10 "Cruel to be Kind" offers some real tasty, subtle percussive and instrumental treats, and Will's writing skills give the songs such beautiful lyrics. #11 "Over You" is a waay sexy groove and it cooks! MmmHmmm. #12 "From Now On" to my ears has a southern USA vibe to it, sort of a jazz/blues/country/blue-grass and it is all good.

#13 "Fine Line" Dramatic, majestic instrumental wizardry weaves a tapestry of mood and visual imagry that supports Will's glorious, deeply emotional vocals. It evokes chills. This song alone gives the CD the seal of a true Masterpiece.

My first from this artist. But it has now been playing constantly in my truck wherever I go for the past 3 weeks or so. There is not a dud on this CD. I am looking forward to getting the next one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Will Young is AWESOME, March 26, 2004

I first heard Will Young on the World Idol television special. I immediately fell in LOVE with his voice. His sound is very soulful, with a hint of jazz and pop in the mix. I think his voice sounds similar to that of frontman Mick Hucknall of Simply Red. On this cd, you can definitely hear why he won the UK Pop Idol competition. I was a huge fan of the British music scene back in the 80's, and still love most of them that are still making music (Boy George, Simply Red, Annie Lennox, etc), but I have completely fell for Will. Not only does he have a voice like an angel...he has the look of one as well. What a perfect package.

3.0 out of 5 stars Has great potential, November 27, 2003

Will Young has an amazing voice. The nation was shocked when he beat (run of the mill singer) Gareth Gates to become the first Pop Idol. His debut album shows great promise with tracks like From Now On, Side By Side, You And I and Lover Won't You Stay. His smooth vocals are easily distinctive and will surely keep Young around for years to come. However, though the album has a more soulful, jazzy feel to it (which immediately puts him in a pop league of his own), there is a lack of orginality on here. The lead single Evergreen is a cover of a Westlife song. The second, Light My Fire, is a remake of The Doors classic. Performed live, Young's version gave you goose-pimples, but this album version never really takes off. The 3rd release, a duet with Gates, was a cover of The Beatles classic The Long and Winding Road.
I would definitely recommend Will Young to those of you looking for some variation in the pop world today. At heart Will has got the talent...he is first and foremost a singer... in time let's hope he gets it right....his new single, Leave Right Now (from his forthcoming album Friday's Child) shows some development in his vocal range and maturity...here's looking to a bright future....

All I can say is that I was "wow"ed by this CD. I am a big music fan and try to listen to all kinds, from all over the world. This CD is one of the best that I have heard. He has AWESOME talent!! I hope that the USA will pick him up on some stations, I think he would do really good. I would love to hear Will and Kelly Clarkson do a ballad together! They both have AWESOME voices!!

Not even think about the price! Its so worth it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars My new favorite singer? Will Young!, December 31, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: From Now on (Audio CD)
I first heard Will Young sing on the American Idol program. Admittedly it wasn't his best performance, but still I knew he was something special. My husband also sat up in his chair and took favorable notice of Will, so I vowed to buy this CD as soon as it came out. We were not disappointed!

My favorite tracks are "Over You" and "Lovestruck", but I enjoy EVERY track!

5.0 out of 5 stars At last.... some real talent, January 9, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: From Now on (Audio CD)
A lot of people seem to look down on Will Young for the simple fact that he was discovered on a T.V show, so what? As long as he has real talent then that's all I'm interested in and Will has defiantly proved this to us.
Will is one of the U.K's (heck the world's) most talented new artists and I LOVED His debut album "From Now on" My favourite songs on the album are Evergreen, You and I, Over you and cruel to be kind.

I would defiantly recommend this album and I give it 10 our of 10.
