I am an extra class ham radio operator and teach introduction to ham radio classes. I have found this book to be the best on the market for both in class use and individule study. It covers all the bases and explains everything in simple, easy to understand terms. It also contains all of the possible test questions so that you can practice taking the exam on your own. If you want to become a HAM then this is THE BOOK for you! 73

I studied Now You're Talking for one week, and passed the Technician test in 10 minutes. (That's the Novice and Tech written tests.) It makes it so easy with help and tells which questions to study after each section.

This is the best book to read to become a Ham! It has easy to follow chapters with test questions as you go. Just read the book do the questions and you will be a ham in no time!

I read this book and passed my exams with no problem and I'm only 13 years old. So if a 13 year old can understand this book anyone can.

This book encouraged me to get into ham radio and took me all the way through getting my license. I am now a tech plus and will soon upgrade to a general. I reccomend this book to anyone who wants to join in on the hobby.

I got a perfect score on the Novice and the Technician exams, since this book contains all of the ACTUAL test questions. If you go through a chapter a day (which is what I did), you can be ready for the exams in 10 days.

This book is a great intro to the wonderful hobbie of Amateur Radio. A how-to book , with all the how-to's. As an Extra class Ham, this is the book I gave to my own son and daughter. They both have their call signs, and actually learned something. This is not a cheap study guide with the questions and answers only. Now You're Talking teaches the whys and what for. Good luck!! "Now You're Talking!" is an excellent reference book, which I recommend to all of my students. I use my own cartoon license manual, "Ride the Airwaves with ALFA & ZULU", to teach ham radio, but when a detailed explanation is needed for a topic, there is no other book as clearly written and illustrated as NYT!

This is the only book you need to get your Novice, Technician or Technician Plus license. The format of this book is so that you learn what you need to and then are referenced to the actual pool of exam questions as you go along. Just follow the format, don't skip around and you will easily pass your FCC exam. I passed mine 100% and was finished before anyone else.

There are thousands of people of all ages who have said, "I'd like to get involved with amateur radio." It's just as easy as buying this book, reading it through and working through the self-test questions (the same ones you'll see on the FCC exam for Novice/Technican class licences). There's no magic, just this book and a small regular commitment of time over several weeks. With a technician licence you can talk with people in your local area. It's the first step toward a general licence and you'll be able to talk around the world.
