5.0 out of 5 stars Hope The Movie is as great as the soundtrack! January 8, 2010
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
On January 7, 2010, I arrived home from work to see that my import CD from the UK had arrived. It was the soundtrack to the UK movie "Nowhere Boy". This movie has not been released in New York or anywhere else in the USA. I've read about this movie on the internet which caught my interest, since I'm a John Lennon/Beatles listener and fan. This soundtrack gives us a clear understanding as to what The early Beatles were listening to and most influenced by. This soundtrack consists of many incredible Rock & Roll Gems by many Rock & Roll legends including Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley and many more. It also included the cast of the movie which calls themselved The Nowhere Boys. The songs that truly stand out on this soundtrack is "In Spite of All the Danger" by The Nowhere Boys(The Cast). This song is well done, and even has single potential! It would probably do very well in the UK charts! Another surprise on the soundtrack is an outtake of "Mother" by John Lennon. This is a raw version that I've never heard before.(I would bet that Yoko has a lot more in store for us in the future). This track shows John Lennon's stripped down version that he was working on with Ringo. It's like listening to Beethoven in the process of writing a symphony). I truly hope that this movie and soundtrack is released in the USA. In the meantime, the UK soundtrack is available here on Amazon for your listening pleasure! - Dean Wien

4.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring the Making of John Lennon March 21, 2011
By Leah
Format:Audio CD
As a die hard Beatles fan, I was so excited to see "Nowhere Boy" hit the screen. The story of John Lennon's formative years was heartbreaking, but the backdrop is the music which inspired this "bad boy."

The soundtrack provides a collection of songs from a wide arrange of genres: old school rock (Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley); jazz (Screamin' Jay Hawkins); and of course, skiffle (the first dive into music for Lennon, presented by the young cast, known as The Nowhere Boys). It's a wonderful combination of background music which inspired Lennon to create his own band mixed with actual live recordings of actor Aaron Johnson and The Nowhere Boys. The entire soundtrack is worthwhile for their take on "In Spite of All the Danger," a sweet yet raw performance complete with guitar riffs and soaring vocals.

The music is wonderful; seeing the music in the film is even better. John Lennon's talent really shines through. As it always will.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nowhere Boy Soundtrack December 26, 2010
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I grew up listening to this music which influenced my love for rock n' roll. I loved the movie and was such fun to listen to the music again. The Beatles were (still are) a great influence on my love of this music, and loved seeing the John Lennon character excited about the sound and playing off that to develop a band and play and develop music their way. 5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD June 19, 2014
Format:Audio CD
I watched the movie and was very surprised by how much I liked it. Aaron John as John Lennon was the perfect casting. He amazes you by his acting ability. He brought the movie to life with his highs and his lows. And his singing was incredible as well. I am only 20 but I like all different kinds of music. Especially some of the music from this time. And after watching the movie I had to get the cd. It's been a very long time since I've even bought a cd because I've been so bored with today's music. But I've listened to this cd probably over 50 times already. I love it : )
