Book Description

November 12, 2008
There are things that happen in the world that are difficult and sometimes impossible to explain. At times, we are confronted with circumstances or situations over which we have no control. How we deal with those situations reveals much about our strongest beliefs, our dreams, and our fears. This collection of short stories explores specific instances of involvement with or belief in the supernatural in one North African country. The tales, all claiming to be true, were collected over several years while the author was living in Morocco.

5.0 out of 5 stars An engrossing read September 29, 2010
By J
Format:Paperback
I'm usually not a very good reader. When i have a rare phase of book reading, i sometimes try out 3 or more books and then get bored after the first 40 pages, quickly skipping to the end to read the last chapter. It's not often that a book can keep me captivated throughout.
Nowhere Else to Turn seems to have been different for me. The first story didn't have the same magic for me as later stories, but i read the second story out of curiosity, and it went from there. The more i read, the more i wanted to read of it. Each story was complete enough, interesting enough, and with a punch line that was thought-provoking enough to encourage me to want to read the next story.....and then the next.......

Nowhere Else to Turn was very descriptive and left me wanting to know more about the supernatural events described within the pages. The book is a page turner, the author has done a great job of engaging the reader. I had a hard time putting the book down!

5.0 out of 5 stars A fascinating read! March 25, 2009
Format:Paperback
This book was so fascinating, I ended up reading it from cover to cover in one sitting! Regardless of your preexisting beliefs, it will challenge you to think differently about the supernatural. As each story ended, I found myself wishing I could either read more of it or talk to the person myself. Well written, the stories flow as if the story-teller him or herself was sitting with you chatting informally. A great read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nowhere Else To Turn... An Adventure May 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Fun to have the opportunity to read a work from a childhood friend. Loved the soccer account and felt like I was in the the stands with the story teller. I'll never forget the "Evil Eye". Who knew Morocco had so much "spirit"!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Glimpse Few Can Share November 16, 2011

The book is very accessible and offers an unparalleled view into a culture one cannot extract from a text book, a guide book or even a personal tour of the country of Moroco. Here are insights which lay hidden behind the cultural curtain of a country steeped in unwritten traditions and unspoken beliefs and are only brought to our awareness thanks to the author's unique experience and abilities. Here is an American well-versed in the language of the land and, thanks to the long period of time he lived there, the lay of the land as well. For anyone planning a visit to Morocco, this book is invaluable. No, it is not great literature but it literate, intelligent, and offers a delightful reading experience from start to finish. Highly recommended.
