More About the Author

"[Rebecca York's] books. . . deliver what they promise: excitement, mystery, romance. . ."
- Michael Dirda, Washington Post

An award-winning, best-selling novelist, Ruth Glick is the author of over 100 books. Writing as Rebecca York, she has authored or co-authored over 50 romantic suspense novels. The first of her Berkley Sensation paranormal romantic suspense novels, KILLING MOON, was published in June 2003; EDGE OF THE MOON followed in August 2003 and WITCHING MOON in October 2003. KILLING MOON and EDGE OF THE MOON were launch books for the Berkley Sensation imprint.

She writes the popular 43 Light Street series for Harlequin Intrigue. Over 30 Light Street Intrigues have been published. NOWHERE MAN was called "one of the most heart-wrenching, moving works of romantic suspense in several years," by reviewer Harriet Klausner.

Ruth's many awards include two Rita finalist books. She has two Career Achievement awards from Romantic Times: for Series Romantic Suspense and Series Romantic Mystery. NOWHERE MAN was the Romantic Times Best Intrigue of 1998, and the book has been selected as one of their Reviewers' "all-time favorite 400 romances." In addition, she received the 1998 Affaire de Coeur's Critics Choice Award for Best Contemporary Novel, also for NOWHERE MAN. Ruth's book, KILLING MOON won the 2003 New Jersey Romance Writers Golden Leaf Award for best Paranormal. AMANDA'S CHILD won the 2001 Golden Leaf Award for Long Contemporary and was nominated for Best Intrigue of 2000 by Romantic Times. "Tyler" in BAYOU BLOOD BROTHERS won the 2001 Golden Leaf Award for best Novella. In 2007 THE SECRET NIGHT received the Romantic Times Reviewers Choice Award for best Harlequin Intrigue. Ruth's cookbook, 100% PLEASURE, was picked by USA Today as one of the 12 best cookbooks of 1994; her FABULOUS LO-CARB CUISINE was a finalist for the MidAtlantic Publishers Association's Excellence in Independent Publishing Award.

Several of Ruth's Moon books (WITCHING MOON, SHADOW OF THE MOON, and NEW MOON) have been on the USA Today best-seller list.

Ruth and her husband travel frequently to research settings for novels and taste new dishes for cookbooks. Her many unique experiences are apt to end up in her books--like the time she encountered a coral snake in the Guatemalan jungle or took a flight in a hot air balloon.

5.0 out of 5 stars York's done it again!, April 16, 2004

This review is from: Out of Nowhere (43 Light Street, Book 27) (Harlequin Intrigue Series #765) (Mass Market Paperback)
Rebecca York never fails to deliver at weaving romance, suspense and the unexpected between the pages of her books. She's done it again in OUT OF NOWHERE. Max Dakota is on the job, his years as an agent making him feel he has seen it all, until a diminutive blonde enigma appears quite literally out of thin air at the worst possible time. Her inexplicable plunge off a bridge into dark murky waters forces Max to make a decision: stick to the plan that's been months in the making and hope the woman knows how to swim, or try to rescue her and risk blowing a murder investigation that has reached a critical juncture. Max's choice is no mystery but the woman whose life he saves most certainly is. Her memory is gone, but her talents with locks, weapons and hand-to-hand combat are not. Max has every reason to doubt Annie, his name for her since she claims not to know her own. And it is clear she has come on a mission of her own, unfortunate since she can't remember what that is either. Given the timing of her appearance on the scene, Max is more than justified in suspecting Annie's motives. Lives depend on his ending the illegal activity he's been tracking. And for someone with no memory and no past, Annie seems to know more than she should. Therein is the conflict and the mystery. As for the romance, the bolt of lightning during which Annie appears never dissipates. It crackles between Max and Annie even as each suspects the other of treachery. They are appealing characters, worthy opponents, a dynamic no-holds barred romantic hero and heroine. Be prepared for an utterly satisfying read.

5.0 out of 5 stars fun fun read, October 29, 2004
This review is from: Out of Nowhere (43 Light Street, Book 27) (Harlequin Intrigue Series #765) (Mass Market Paperback)
How many years has Ruth Glick been writing as Rebecca York doing the 43 Light St. series for Harlequin Intrigue? They have been the backbone of the series and she just keeps them coming. This one is a nifty little, fun tale. Max Dakota has a murder investigation going and it's at a crucial point. Max is a bit weary, a spy-turned-detective, he's seen it all, heard every story. Until she came crashing into his life. The beautiful blond plunged into his world - literally - off a Florida bridge. He can blow his investigation, and hope for the best - the blonde knows how to do the dog paddle - or he can play knight in shining - well tarnished - armour and go fetch the dame. Naturally, Max rescues the woman. What else is a wise-cracking gumshoe supposed to do? There is a code about these things!

He dubs her "Annie" because when she comes around, she cannot recall who she is.
One thing Max quickly decides, despite his knight routine, she is no damsel fainting in distress. She picks locks, shoots guns and her hands are likely registered as a lethal weapon - though Max quickly decides "lethal" in more ways than one! Despite not trusting her any farther than he can throw her, he decides, name or no name, she gets under his skin and he wants the aggravating, sexy lass with a passion!

It's a fun read, showing York still has the magic.

York had me turning pages right from the start. The suspense in this book never lets up. And these are characters I want to believe in and keep pulling for to the very last pages. This is the perfect book for a rainy-day Spring reading spree...or any time you want to add a little excitement to your life. Enjoy!
