I find the Verve recordings pretty erratic, ranging from very good (this one and Bird & Diz) to dismal (with strings). This is probably the best single CD to get for the Verve years, including many of his finest moments (Now's the time, Confirmation, etc.).

Charlie Parker / the Quartet of Charlie Parker (Verve): Taken from two sessions from 1952 and 1953, the personnel in the quartet changes with the session years but remains the same high quality of musicianship with obvious individual artistry.

The 1952 Quartet (Tracks 1-6)

The 1953 Quartet (Tracks 7-13)
