I read a very favorable review of this monitor in Maximum PC magazine and decided to go for it. The monitor is capable high brightness and I'm also impressed with how dark and black it gets when the screen goes black. It has a blue power light that was afraid would be too bright but it doesn't bother me, probably because it's on the bottom left of the monitor. I've calibrated this monitor with a Gretag Macbeth eye-one display and it looks great. There is a tiny bit of light bleed on the bottom of the monitor when the screen goes black but I've never noticed it while gaming or even using photoshop.
UPDATE - After two and a half years the monitor stopped working. Won't come on. I've changed power cables and everything.

I bought this based on the same Maximum PC review as an earlier poster. It is nice and bright. Images are crisp and games are awesome (using an 8800 gtx). My only complaint is the dvi connector. It is abit of a struggle because there isn't much room between the port and the base of the monitor. The monitor does not have any height adjustment, just tilt.

Thankful it worked after seeing the condition of delivered box. For the price, I'm impressed. After making some color adjustments through the control panel - the colors are more accurate. I would purchase this brand and from this company - through Amazon - again. I read the reviews just like you. If I learned anything, and can pass it along, please allow me. I purchased a refurbished HD 24'' monitor from Tiger Direct. Since i did not elect to purchase their warranty, (after $50 tax and shipping) - the monitor died a few days before the one year purchase. This Amazon purchase was replacing my refurbished monitor. I am not out to bash Tiger Direct. They did offer the warranty upon purchase, and I declined. Lesson learned. Don't buy refurbished. If you do, factor in spending more money for an extended warranty. However, to maintain customer retention, in these not so easy economic times for retailers; both online and brick and mortar - I was surprised no accomodations could be made (or offered). That's the beauty of Amazon - selection, freedom, choice. Thanks.

Good monitor. When it arrived it was larger than I imagined it whould be. Does what is says it does. No complaints

Monitor has a beautiful picture that is free of artifacts. The picture is better than most monitors costing twice as much.
