After several years attempting to teach myself Spanish, I found that this dictionary is an excellent help to that challenge. It is most useful in that it shows you exactly how to pronounce words. For instance, "durante" - during; while - is shown as [du RAN te] which shows that the emphasis is on the second syllable "RAN". Another example is "estar" shown as [es TAR]. Also, every word is also shown in a complete sentence, such as "Voy a comer durante la pelicula." And, the English translation of the sentence is also shown - "I'm going to eat during the movie".

Like another reviewer, I appreciated the easy guide to pronouncing Spanish words, and seeing which syllable is accented. This was what I was most looking for in a Spanish/English dictionary. Here are a few other notes:
1. All words include the parts of speech, (many words have more than one application) and gender (el, la with nouns, not simply "f" or "m" as most dictionaries do) which is so crucial for sentence structure in Spanish.
2. All the various uses of the word are illustrated with a complete sentence in Spanish (with English translation).
3. The text is large and easy to read.
4. There are lists of words (with illustartions for Spanish words) by category after the Spanish and English dictionaries. Check both lists because they are not the same!
5. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because not every word listed in the category lists were included in the dictionary! For example, viernes (Friday) is NOT in the Spanish dictionary!!
All in all, an excellent resource for learning words and pronouncing them correctly, and seeing how to use them correctly in sentences. I find that I want to sit and just read through the dictionary - it's that great!
