Nu Bossa - Not the Same as the Old Bossa :-),
By KC "metroxing" (Northern CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nu Bossa Cafe (Audio CD)
This is a fine collection of Nu Bossa/Latin Tinged Trip Hop or
Bossa Trip Hop Acid Jazz - just don't confuse it with the Bossa Nova most people know so well. And yes, there are only 12 tracks.

I dig this release but do NOT go by the track listing with this release. This is actually a 12 track cd which features the artists in the Amazon mini-review that's below the track listing. If not for another site where I first saw this CD, I would have been upset. Here is the real track listing and order: Victor Davies: Better Place (Afro Gigolo Mix) This is a pretty good compilation of nu-bossa tunes, breaks and beats by mostly European DJ's and producers. This has a VERY heavy Compost Records feel. Original acts from Compost feature Fauna Flash, A Forest Mighty Black (Rainer Truby/Fauna Flash) and Minus 8 along with a Jazzanova remix. The Compost cuts are probably the highlight - Jazzanova's rare remake of Soul Quality's Quartet's track is great. There's also a remake to Jorge Ben's classic "Camanche" really grew on me - especially the intro. It won't make you forget the original, but it's got its own, unique charm. Tim Hutton and Victor Davies also appear and a cool & sexy remix to a Suba track is present, along with a few other cool cuts.
