5.0 out of 5 stars Best Compilation of 2009?
It has to be close. It's definitely my favorite so far, especially of any of the Global Underground releases. If you like Sultan's previous work and his productions with Ned Shepard, you will get what you're expecting here.

As noted in the liner notes, Disc 1 is aimed at the "student of the NuBreed series," and it's a bit more mellow than Disc 2. The mix...

More of an afterset type feel to me. Nice, mellow progressive house/trance sounds that were well mixed together. I enjoyed it, I would certainly buy more music from him in the future!

The mix of Crimson Sun into Verona at the end of CD1 is just sublime. I can't get enough of that ending. I wish Verona had about 9 additional minutes. Disc 2 has some nice surprises, including the acappella of Luomo. Disc 2 didn't jump out at first listen as much as Disc 1 did, and I was a bit disappointed with Sultan's edit of Dark Globe's "Break My World." I remember first hearing the original mix of that song on the GU10 release, and I was absolutely blown away. Sultan's Edit thankfully doesn't detract from the original at all, but it doesn't make it any more magical, which is an admittedly hard task.

All in all, a stellar album from Sultan, and I hope to see more of him on the GU label in the future.

EDIT: I must say, I have changed my mind, and I declare Sultan's edit of Dark Globe's "Break My World" to be totally rocking. I didn't realize it on my first few listens, but his subtle modifications were just what this track needed to make me want to listen to it over and over and over again---just like when I first heard it on GU10. It's great. I love this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nubreed Sultan, PURE PROGRESSIVE HOUSE, SOOOO GOOOOOOOOD !!!!!, October 20, 2009

Why I can't give 10 Stars to this CD? This is a Double Disc that really brings you into the progressive sounds of the classical Global Underground CDs, it remembers me the Satoshi Tomiie Nubreed, but I don't know which one is better, my recomendation is, there are a lot of garbage right now, but this CD is a relly worth of buying it.
Buy it, Listen it, Enjoy it, if you do so, you will know what are we talking about, GRRRRRRREAT CD !!!!!

Thanks to the preview tracks service here on Amazon I was able to get a good taste of what to expect with Sultan who I'd never heard of before! I've been a trancaholic since 1996 & collect most of the GU releases, including the Nubreeds. CD 1 is my favorite with some terrific non-vocal tracks that are a treat for your ears. CD 2 is still good but the vocal tracks simply didn't come accross as well. Still a worthwhile purchase for fellow trance lovers!

All I can say is - I am now obsessed with Sultan. This is an amazing cd. Very reminiscent of Satoshi Tomiie's Nubreed albulm.
