Brought Out the Chips and Scratches,
By Chris McCray (Daytona Beach, FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nu Finish Paste Car Polish (Misc.)
I bought this product at a local store and used it on my black Camry. Here is my experience:
The polish was difficult to apply. It gobbed together and it took a lot of work to spread around. Keep in mind, I'm like most people and did it by hand with a foam pad. After wiping with a terry cloth and finishing with a microfiber, I looked at the unsatisfactory results. Other waxes I used in the past did not fill in the chips and scratches with white residue, but this... wow, everything turned white. No problem, I thought, it should come out after several washes and some TLC over time. No. Many washes later, white residue is still coming off the tiny nooks, chips, and scratches and they are still as visible as ever, especially on the front bumper. I finally bought a black paint touch-up marker to go over the nicks all around the car, and I realized that Nu Finish was indeed good if someone is looking to identify all the imperfections in the paint of a black car. Otherwise, I'm not happy. I'm giving a token two stars because my experience was with the overall appearance of my car after using the product, instead of evaluating the quality and performance of the polish itself. If you have a brand-new or white car, this is probably the product for you.

Cheap Polish; Good Results,
By
This review is from: Nu Finish Paste Car Polish (Misc.)
I live in Galveston and just bought a replacement vehicle-- a black 7-yr old BMW. I wanted to protect it from the harsh salt-water spray that it will experience. Found this on the shelf of a local store.
It was easy to apply; easy to remove-- no buffing. I put on a little at a time, let it sit, then went back and wiped off the glaze. It was easy to remove with a cotton cloth. I'm seeing good results from this product-- smooth finish with no haze. It does create a bit of white dust-- I had to wipe off the car with a clean rag when I was done. I will have to wait to report on its long-lasting claim. See other favorable reviews of the liquid form of this product.

Nu Finish Paste - Great shine - greater workout!,

Overall: Product I would recommend unless you own a black car.
Pros: Long lasting protection, nice shine, can apply in sunlight, cheap, easy to find in most stores. Cons: Smells like paint thinner - truly awful, difficult to remove/buff, leaves white residue, scratches finish when dry and hard. Rating: 8/10 I purchased this product after an engineer - science geek - auto enthusiast, friend of mine recommended it. Before using this product, My experience has always been with Turtle wax paste and more recently liquid wax. He claimed the polish lasted longer and protected the paint better than wax. This is very important, especially in Buffalo NY (long winters, Salt/sand on the roads from october to may, not to mention it is too damn cold to go outside and wash and wax a car for 8 months out of the year). I purchased this at Target on sale for $6.99. I was originally looking for the liquid, but they were out. I followed the directions, washed and dried my car, on a hot day in Tampa 90 degrees in the shade, high humidity. I applied the stuff to a black Acura MDX, and tried to buff it out. The application was not easy, you need to apply a very thin coat or it gets gummy and sticks in large splotches, I was worried that trying to spread the stuff took so much elbow grease, that i might scratch the paint. All in all it took about 25% more effort than Turtle wax paste, and 50% more effort than turtle wax liquid to apply. Then the fun began.... I let the stuff dry to a haze, and started to buff it off.... and buff.. and buff... some of the thicker splotches required some serious elbow grease... again.. concerns of scratching the paint arose... and that smell.... well this stuff reminds me of the monster in the horror movies that keeps coming back... you think youre done with a panel... and you look again and there are all these flecks of white there.... and I swore it was pristine a minute ago.... and again and again... and then the next day they will return again... but anyways... it took seriously longer to remove than turtle wax. since then I have moved from tampa to jacksonville to north carolina... and I've used in other weather/climates... it still sucks coming off.. but you can make it less painless. for starters... apply a very thin sheen of polish. no clumps or splotches... next dont let it dry to a sheen... but wipe it off quickly... I think it is safe to apply in sunlight... but i never do... it drys too fast.. and i think the heat is bad for paint (softens it and makes it susceptible to scratches)... This has made it easier to buff off, but it still is more work than turtle wax. As for the shine/ protection. This stuff works great. As for the shine, I've heard it isnt as glossy or warm as carnauba based waxes, But the gloss is really beautiful (2009 BMW, 2003 Acura, 2010 Lexus) comparable to any carnauba wax Ive seen. As for the Durability, It works as directed. If you apply, and follow with a second coat, it lasts Noticibly longer than Carnauba based waxes. It beads up the water great, and road muck and grime seem to wash off better. This makes sense since its silicone based. Value: Cheap, a tub of this lasts about as long as a turtle wax tub. but would prob last longer, as you dont need to apply as often. Summary: I'd recommend to those who want a long lasting shine, who don't mind spending 3-4 hrs washing and waxing.

Great Wax,
This review is from: Nu Finish Paste Car Polish (Misc.)
Bought today at my local walmart, I only paid like 6.99 though which is cheaper than Amazons current price. Very easy to apply and wipe off. Using a damp cloth I generously applied it since its so cheap and even in thick spots it still was easy to take off. My only complaint is that it does get in gaps and can leave white residue. A knife wrapped in a thin cloth though can usually reach, or cotton swabs also work pretty good.

Great Shine and Long Lasting,
This review is from: Nu Finish Paste Car Polish (Misc.)
I am very pleased with Nu Finish; I have a black car and the wax keeps it shiny for at least six months. It is easy to apply although you do get a white powder residue that collects on the rag and car during polishing. It also has a tendency to get into crevices and edges so be more exacting when near those places. Overall, I am very pleased with this wax and will continue to use it.

Long Lasting,

This polish lasts the longest that I have tried (and I have tried a lot of waxes). I would not say it lasts a whole year, as the manufacturer claims, but it probably does protect for 3 or 4 months. I use it on a white car and do still see some residue (polish that i did not buff out) even after a few weeks. I think that is just because the polish is harder to see on a white car and I missed it. It comes right out after a soft buff with a microfiber towel. None-the-less, when I am done polishing, my car looks fantastic, and the shine a protection last and last. I highly recommend this product.

Waste of money,
This review is from: Nu Finish Paste Car Polish (Misc.)
Very hard to buff out, leaves a splotchy look but it will fill any small nick in the paint leaving an extremely bright white spot. I did one front quarter panel and the hood ( f-150) then I stopped the results wear just horrible. This is one of the worst auto products I've bought..

Bad Product,

This review is from: Nu Finish Paste Car Polish (Misc.)
I have been waxing my vehicles for 42 years and have tried nearly all waxes known to man and am always looking for something better. I had never tried Nu Finish Paste Polish but the latest Consumer's Reports magazine rated it very high. I have a year old white pickup that is in showroom condition and I applied the polish to the hood. I noticed a liquid that beaded like tiny droplets of water was separating from the paste as I spread it on the hood. I didn't think anything of it. I let the paste haze as usual and then wiped it off. My hood now looks terrible. Where the tiny droplets were, there is no paste coverage so the finish looks spotted. I put another coat on with a dry applicator thinking maybe I had it too damp the first time. Big mistake, now it looks even worse with big swirl marks when you look at it at an angle. Now to try to get it off. Save your money and aggravation, in my opinion, this product is garbage.

Well it did a good job of shining the car. But the thing is the shine did not last very long. I am not sure if that is because mine expired or something. When I opened the container, it was filled with some kind of clear liquid and the polish it self was kind of like jello. I knew that was not the way it was supposed to be. I used it anyway and it did shine the car, just not for long.
