I purchased these to widen a pair of shoes that was a little too tight. The first one had several problems: A fungus growing in the wood and the little plastic "spreader" was not attached screw drive with the result I had to spend 20 minutes rebuilding before I could use it. The plastic spreader in the 2nd stretcher came apart when I tried to take it out of the shoe. It seems they were glued in place with wood glue as the glue which was spilled all over when these were made did not stick to the plastic. I will need epoxy these together if I was ever to try to use them again.

Both shoe stretchers would not spread very wide -- I have 10.5 medium shoes, which are well within the range of these shoe stretchers. I had to put rolled up washcloths inside the shoe such that these would even touch the side of the shoes.

List the problems:

-Fungus in the wood.
-The plastic spreaders will not stay attached making these shoes stay "spread" inside the shoes when you try to remove them. Plan to take these appart and epoxy them in place before you use them.
-The adjustment screws are made out of plastic such that they will probably break after a few uses.
-They do not spread very far so I could not spread my shoes, even with spacers inside.
-The seller I purchased them from only gave a partial refund, less than 1/2, for a product that was bad out of the box.

Save your money, don't buy these.

I bought these to stretch out a pair of roller skates, because, well they hurt like hell right out of the box. I used them for about a week and saw a significant difference in the room for my toes. Not the highest quality (one of the screws kind of jammed up on itself) but for the price, they are certainly worth it. If you intend to hold onto these for years to come, these are probably not going to be your best bet. It was way cheaper (i assume) than taking them to a cobbler to be stretched out.

I discovered this morning that one stretcher works fine, but the other one is already broken. Looks to me like poor workmanship.

These are larger and klunkier than I had envisioned and are not particularly elegant. I don't sense they are really well put together.

They have two independent "screw" mechanisms - one to stretch the shoe "left to right" across the middle and one to lengthen the shoe. Little plastic buttons can be added in select places to force extra space around a foot problem.

These stretchers are not designed to enlarge the toe box; they won't necessarily provide more room over the toes if the shoe presses downward.

However, with judicious use of the buttons and some duct tape to gain bulk, I have found it possible to salvage an otherwise unwearable pair of shoes.

Recommended with reservations.

Don't waste your money on this item....! I was very dissatisfied with the Nu-Fit Wooden Shoe Stretcher. The plastic "spreader tip" on the left stretcher split in half after one use. The tip on the right stretcher fell off as I was trying to use it for the 1st time. Both items were broken beyond repair. Returned the item to Amazon, but still lost my shipping cost which is almost half the price of the Shoe Stretcher.

This is a great product, delivered as shown, on time, and with no complaints, whatsoever. All business transactions should be this satisfying and uncomplicated!!!

The stretchers work pretty well but there was no documentation or explanation of what fitting problems the different holes were supposed to address. It would have been better if there was a short manual on how to use these stretchers to correct specific shoe problems (ie, too narrow, pressure on a particular toe, etc).

Made of mostly wood and plastic so its a little delicate but it does work and its very inexpensive. If you need to stretch your shoes on occasion this is fine. If you need to stretch many shoes often then buy a higher quality shoe stretcher.

a little weird compared to other shoe trees, but they work. takes longer to adjust to fit.
