Nu Flow review, June 29, 2003
This review is from: Nu Flow (Audio CD)
OK their lyrics ARE a bit weak but the girls' harmonies and the boys' rapping are brilliantly intermingled. And the arrangements are outstanding in particular the Walz time "Favourite Things". Nu Flow is the other cool track - trying playing it on your car stereo on a hot day with the windows open and watch the heads swivel. The boys are from the US, Africa and the UK and the girls all cite very different musical influences - this blend of influences makes their music very individual and personal. Big Bro live together in the same house in London (but are not romantically linked). This closeness seems to give them a special tightness in performance and they have real stage presence live. If they can just improve the lyrics (get rid of the bling blings for a start) they should do great things.

now all you people that are trying to compare britsh music to american are talking out there back side, im sorry but its true, you can not compare to completly differant courties music and class them as being the same, the basics are there, rapp, a hectick beat and ... girls but apart from that its completely differant. big brovaz are from london, london at the moment is on garage music, but slowly this is dying out, bir brovaz were being clever, coming up witht here own style of music which is differant to the rest of the jusic on the market and believe it or not, like it or not it sells. it has a beat to it that is differant to anything else, i live in london, born and bred and well i like both american and british mudic but not when people with no experiance of both begin to judge it, london and england as a whole are 50% hip hop and r & b, but america isnt like thius with british music. big brovaz ur style is wacko, a group with its own fashiopn, style, beat and buff gals!

Firstly, to bro-sic-maite, don't try to comment on a music scene that you don't know 'bout. True say what you have heard of UK music is commercial and meaningless but the artists producing this music, like big brovaz, have bere funding behind them from big record companies who want to cash in. The way to do this is produce commercial music with mass appeal. However what you aint heard is all the underground UK hiphop which is beginning to get more recognition. Just listen to artists like Blak twang, Mystro, Klashnekoff, Rodney P, 57th Dynasty, Kyza, Jehst and the Outdaville crew to name only a few and you'll hear what the UK is really about. Maybe Big brovaz wouldn't ba able to afford as much of the 'bling' that they rap about if they kept it real and didn't put on US accents, but they would at least have the respect of tru hiphop fans. At da end of the day its all bout priorities, real music or money. Big up all da UK massive keepin' it true to da streets!
