Equipment: NuForce uDAC USB headphone amp + flac or 320 kbps MP3s in VLC.
Comparing: Sennheiser HD600 headphones, Sennheiser CX300II earbuds, NuForce NE-650M earbuds.
First impression: it's staggering how different they all are.
Sennheiser CX300II ($56): by far the warmest, with the most mids. Highs very clear, bass well defined, but something is slightly off. The entire sound coloring feels a bit strange or distorted, almost muddy. Cord tangles infuriatingly easily.
NuForce NE-650M ($45): very clear, providing excellent, really wide soundstage. Less mid-range in exchange for the sharpness and slightly over-exaggerated bass (the most bass of the three), feeling a bit aloof or cold because of that. All in all, excellent choice for the price.
Sennheiser HD600 ($$$): as expected, nothing can touch these cans. The most any earbud can claim is not sucking completely in comparison, and these certainly stood the test, but unlike anything else, you just never want to take HD600s off.

Conclusion: NuForce is an excellent performer for the price. The only wish - a tiny bit less bass.

Sound Quality is really decent for a pair of roughly $50 earbuds, not fantastic, but pretty damn good, if you want better go with Sennheiser, or Klipsch, but be prepared to pay more, especially for ones that have cords that don't tangle easily like this one.

Unfortunately, a lot of these must have rolled off the manufacturing line with a crippling defect, the right or left earbud will go out fairly quickly, my right earbud started to crackle after only 2 days use and I babied them, able to get them to work sometimes by blasting the music momentarily and it would come back to life again, until I stopped listening to music for a few hours then when I wanted to use them again, had to repeat the same process, until one day the right earbud completely died and did not come back when I blasted the music. EDIT: I figured out that the earbuds themselves weren't the problem its the cable, near the headphone jack, the wire is very easily pulled apart. The earbuds' cable, although hard to tangle, gets caught on anything like door knobs and drawer knobs, they are made of a very grippy rubber, and grip they do, annoyingly well, to anything that's protruding from any surface you happen to brush up against when you're wearing them, usually resulting in them being ripped from your ears, disconnecting from the headphone jack and you dropping your ipod if you're holding it in your hands....

KEEP READING VERY IMPORTANT

Nuforce does allow you to create an account on their website and register your product, Its actually incredibly easy, and if you ordered these earbuds from amazon you use the order number that was created when you bought them, once you do I suggest submitting a ticket about the earbuds, from what I've read, these guys will get back to you and replace them. I just did it before writing this review. From what I've read their other model of earbuds haven't had this problem so its just a one time fluke.

I purchased the NuForce NE-650M with the intent of replacing my Klipsch S4-i that are just about a year old. The package was delivered on time. However, the packaging was "thin." That is, there were no instructions or warranty information included. I think this was a refurbished item.

Anyway, within a week, I discovered a short in the cord. Unfortunately, I could not determine if it was near the ear bud or near the plug. To make things worse, I discarded the original packaging and receipt so I could not return it.

During my week's use, I can confirm that the sound quality is very good and great fitment. However, I found myself continually missing my S4s... The NuForce earbuds are no longer usable and I am still using my same old S4s.

They sound really good for the price. Maybe I was to rough with them?..but after about three months the connection at the stress relief for the 3.5mm jack failed. Same thing happened to the other pair of nuforces I bought. its really strange too because of how beefy the stress reliefs are. they just look like they can take anything thrown at them. Maybe its a wiring issue or something of that sort? I don't know. I don't think I will purchase another pair of nuforces again, which is a shame because for the price they sound really good.

Got these as casual headphones.
They sound pretty decent in the mid and highs overall, however I have the following issues:

WAY too much bass. Especially when watching movies on my tablet, the bass is too pronounced and actually uncomfortable.
I have to turn the volume down to make action sequences with sound effects bearable, but then for dialogs or quieter scenes the volume is too low. Really annoying.

There are quality issues. After about ~2 months of light use the connector developed an issue, where the sound would cut in/out depending on the angle.
Requested an RMA from NuForce which they promptly did. It got exchanged no questions asked. So that was a pleasant experience.
Well - after a couple of more months of even lighter use (too boomy bass) the same connection issue resurfaces with the exchanged headset....

At this point I am giving up.

Pity. Really wanted to like these.....
