If you're truly a Lynne Arriale fan, you won't find a whole lot of her playing here, at least on the CD. IMHO, the disc should've been
called "Trumpeto Blarissimo" by Randy Brecker, (featuring Lynne Arriale). He's on nearly every song, and plays a dominant role in the
project. The music is fine, (most of it was written by Arriale), but I was expecting more of her signature playing, with perhaps three
songs featuring Mr. Brecker. Additionally....the engineering on this recording has a lot to be desired. Overall, it's recorded at levels
that are too high, creating that terrible "fuzzy, sibilant" kind of distortion on certain notes from both the trumpet and piano during
louder passages. No, I'm not listening on cheap equipment, either. It's quite high grade, and it handles demanding music very well. This
disc could've been so much better. I'm also not trying to come across as an audiophile "snob". I'm just offering a head's up, for prospective
buyers. The CD /DVD combo is truly a cool idea, though....and a value.

This combo CD/DVD is a winning combination. One of my favorite pianists is Richie Bierach, because I've listened to much of his discography, I've followed his close colleagues like bassist George Mraz, who not only plays here, but has played with Richie for years. Richie has been an associate producer on several of Lynne Arriale's releases. This DVD comes with personal interviews of each band member and one with this combo producer, Suzi Reynolds, which was very insightful. This package is very cool!

Sincerely, this is an excellent CD/DVD. The tunes and the musicianship are of a high degree. I fully recomend this package and other of the latest Lynne Arriale music.

I take pride in my ability to keep discs pristine after initial use - this is very difficult with this packaged set. Both the DVD & CD slide in/out of THE DIGIPAK'S SIDE FLAPS.
THIS REVIEW IS ANTI-PACKAGING, THE CD & DVD INITIALLY ARE VERY HIGH CALIBER BUT AFTER USE, THE SET IS HARD TO MAINTAIN SCRATCH FREE, I REPACKAGED MY SET IN A 'DOUBLE' DVD CASE.
