LLLOOOVVVEEE IT!!!,

We've been using this cup for a good year now and I have no complaints whatsoever!!! MY SON LOVES THEM!!! I don't really understand all the bad reviews for this product. First of all there are replacement nipples/spouts that can be bought for this cup (just search yahoo or you can also find them on ebay). If your child is a chewer and likes to chew on his/her sippy cup, obviously these would tear as the nipple/spout is silicone and not plastic (it doesn't take a genius to figure this out!)...so you would be better off getting a plastic spout sippy cup. My son hated the plastic ones and wouldn't drink from them so this was great for him since it gave him the same feel/texture of a bottle and that is why we got these and WE HAVE LOVED IT EVER SINCE

We have been using the advent sippy (minus the valve so she can learn about cups) and these for about 4 months now. She is 16 months and has almost all of her teeth in already.
Pros: ~easy to clean (by hand or dishwasher) ~very inexpensive (on sale for [...], normally[...] at walmart) ~silicone can be boiled in case of thrush (or just cheaply replace the whole thing) ~tops are interchangeable with the "sports sipper" straw tops that nuby makes. ~is no spill as long as the silicone is untorn (see below) Cons: ~the silicone top tears can tear, but not as easily as the straw sippers ~because the silicone is flexible it can "flick" the liquid out. but its just a few drops, not a whole puddle. We have been using the same purple one along with two advents for about 4 months and have not had it tear or anything. I just bought two more (a red one and a blue one) the other day since it works so well and I wanted to switch away from the advent since my daughter has learned how to dump it all over my carpet.

I initially loved the cups but grew to dislike them,

When we initially purchased the cups, I was thrilled with their non-spill and non-leak feature. My son would throw them about without any leaks.
After a couple of weeks of usage the plastic valve broke which allowed my son to place his thumb inside the valve and rip the plastic out completely. If I had not caught it, I'm sure it would be a chocking hazard. I use them for my 14-month old son's thick smoothies of fruit and yogurt and just keep a careful eye to detect when he's grown tired of it so I can grab it before he sends it flying.

How much do these suck? Let me count the ways...,

1) Bought cups in multi-pack yet screw-tops are not interchangeable, nor are nipples (I have to sit there and sort through a pile of tops and nipples to find the right ones). This is extra frustrating because the lid colors do not match the cup color to begin with. Just the thing toddler parents want during dinner clean-up - a puzzle!
2) Can't just rinse out the tops for a quick clean - milk gets caught in the inner part of the nipple so I have to remove them every time (see #1 above) 3) Tops need to get screwed on very tight to avoid leaking 4) Plastic is very slippery so after my slobbery kids use them, I stand at the sink with wet hands straining to grip the cup so I can get the top off (see #3 above) 5) Bottles are deep and "ergonomically designed" so I can't easily get a sponge down into the bottom. Why do companies allow product designers who do not have kids design products for parents with kids? This cup wins the worst product design of the year, in my book (not unlike infant clothes with fussy buttonholes on the back of the garment). You couldn't design a toddler cup with more problems. If I go to hell when I die, my lot will be to spend eternity cleaning and reassembling Nuby cups. Avoid it!

My daughter loves them . . . I hate them,

These were the only 'sippy cups' that I could get my daughter to use after stopping breastfeeding. Yet, now at 18 months, she still only wants these cups and they leak horribly and are time consuming to prepare. Even after the tedious job of lining up the notches perfectly (and the silicone spout often slips when you screw it onto the cup, so you often have to take it out and line it up all over again), we often get leaks from some other minor problem in the lid. I have to triple check every aspect of the lid to ensure no major leaks.
Also, the spouts break very easily (which causes major leakage), and I have had to keep replacing them. I am desperately trying to break my daughter of these cups.

Pretty good product!,
This review is from: Nuby No Spill Sipper, Colors May Vary, 10 Ounce (Baby Product)
This is an awesome cup to have when transfering babies from bottle to cup. They are easy to clean and my daughter had no problem gripping the cup by herself. The only downfall to this product is that they need to sell valve replacements. My daughter would chew and chew on it and I'd end up buying a new one since it would no longer be spill-proof.

My son has been using these sippy cups since he was about 6 months old when we were just trying to get him used to having a cup at meals instead of a bottle. He is now 14 months old and he uses this cup full time instead of bottles!! The Nuby came well-recommended and he loves it!

I wish I liked them....,
This review is from: Nuby No Spill Sipper, Colors May Vary, 10 Ounce (Baby Product)
I initially liked these cups (and so did my daughter,) so I bought another pack of two...Unfortunately after about a week I hated everything about them. First of all, it takes some time to line the notches up to get the nipple in the ring, and once it's lined and secure, it's hard to screw the top on the cup straight. It almost always takes some adjusting. Secondly, the nipple collapses with almost every sip! I'm not sure how everyone isn't having this same problem, as I know it's not a defect in my daughters cup since we own 4 of them. I'm constantly having to unscrew the lid for her and pop the nipple back out. We use all of the NUK Gerber Graduates cups now, and I LOVE them!

Not a good sippy cup.,
This review is from: Nuby No Spill Sipper, Colors May Vary, 10 Ounce (Baby Product)
I have used other sippy cups before, and this one is not the best. It leaks all over the carpet and I end up stepping in the leakage. Milk? Milk on my sandals? Why is there milk on my sandals? Oh wait, that's right. The defective piece of crap that is this sippy cup has leaked out once again. I would not recommend buying it seeing as though there are better ones out there. It makes me feel bad inside, and if I were to receive this as a gift I'd spit on whoever gifted it to me.

spout is hard to use,
By
This review is from: Nuby No Spill Sipper, Colors May Vary, 10 Ounce (Baby Product)
We've tried a variety of sippy cups and these are among my least favorite. They're not bad in terms of durability and my son doesn't seem to have a problem gripping them. But the spouts have started to give us trouble. My son has to suck so hard on them that he collapses the rubbery top part. I have to constantly unscrew the lid to release the pressure and the spout pops back out. He's fine for a few minutes and then we have to unscrew the top again.
We use other brands of cups with the same soft top/valves and don't have this trouble. |
