Book Description

In this action thriller Kamal Pashwari, a billionaire from the Middle East decides the United States needs to be taught a lesson for his sons death in a military encounter.

He finds an ingenious way to steal and smuggle an old Russian suitcase nuclear weapon into the U.S. with an unknown target.

Russia is terrified it will be blamed, and sends their top agent Natasha Karpov to team up with Matt Peterson, an up and coming CIA analyst to track the bomb's path to the U.S. and try and locate the weapon before the impending disaster.

The author neatly weaves fact with fiction, including Schapelle Corby drug smuggling, as well as terrorist bombings in Bali & London.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced thriller March 6, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book has it all, it's a thriller with believable characters and scenarios. The author gives you enough political background to make you think this story could actually happen without ever slowing the pace or getting bogged down. From the opening scene the stakes are high, nuclear weapons used against US targets. All the way through the book you're following a US agent and a well resourced and committed terrorist. It's not a book you want to put down until you finish the last page.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good story.... January 20, 2014

....but I thought the characters needed to be fleshed out more. I think this is the author's first book. I suspect he will get better as he writes more. I did find that it was very good story, although I thought there were some story lines that needed further development & others that didn't need to be there at all. But... this was a freebie. Worth every cent!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nuclear Surprise Review December 26, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Excellent spy novel. Well done it holds your interest in spite of the fast paced switches from present to past and between the many prime characters. The many threads are woven into a story that is compelling, leaving you not quite sure if it was fiction or perhaps a version of the truth.

3.0 out of 5 stars Middle not so hot May 25, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed the beginning of this book and looked forward to an exciting read. The last part of the story had tension and excitement, which propelled the reader to keep reading and turning the page until the final conclusion. The problem I had was the middle part. At times I wondered if some of the middle had been written by someone else. In my opinion It had the feel of a different style of writing – I am sure I am wrong, but it is the impression I had when reading this part. The paragraphs in the middle were very short and ‘jumpy’, for want of a better word, it was if it had been written as a film script, where the eye sees the surrounding scene, rather than as a continuing readable in depth story. For me the middle of the book was disappointing.

5.0 out of 5 stars EDGE OF YOUR SEAT INTRIGUE January 11, 2015
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I truly enjoyed this book. From the beginnings of a muslim college student who is drawn into the world of jihad through his life, filled with murders, intrigue and violence we follow his trail as he is pursued by intelligence agents from the United States and Russia. The reason he is being pursued? Possession of suitcase nuclear devices which are intended for use against the enemies of islam. The action is well paced and I found myself unwilling to lay it down...
Well developed characters, lots of action and believable story line combine to earn this a five star review.

I was really hoping for much more when the story began given the promise of the first couple of chapters. However my let down was again the quintessential super hero type guy who against all odds defies terrorists and again with literally seconds to go, ensures that the world is made safe.
For me now and then it would be ok to have a fail..!

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible! April 14, 2015
By Bob
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is written at a third grade level and was so boring! At first, I thought it was trying to have the formal voice you would give to a character from the Middle East but when the American characters were brought in with the same voice, I put the book down. No thank you!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good story but. January 11, 2015

The plot line for this novel is good where it breaks down is in the editing (problems with the case of the characters) and with the simplistic conversations. People don't talk as if they are stateing facts. Fix these issues and we'll have a 5 star author on our hands.

2.0 out of 5 stars Didn't finish
There was lots of jumping around likewise in the first half, which got rather tedious. The characters seemed flat and the dialogue felt stilted. Liked the idea of the storyline.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not that interesting, poor writing
I only made it thru about a third of the book. There was nothing original, and some of the subject matter was poorly researched. Don't waste your time.

More About the Author

I have always been interested in writing since I attended Trinity Grammar School in Sydney Australia. But further studies took me to other areas, and I attended University of New South Wales and University of Technology Sydney studying Mechanical Engineering and Business.

I worked for a time in my father's engineering business before opening my own business building sailing boats. This was short lived however, as the first thing you can do without in a recession is a new boat!

My interest in computers and technology led me into other areas. IT has been very good to me and I have worked for a number of very large international companies. In this industry I was fortunate to do a lot of travel, particularly to Asia, France, and the U.S. I do some website design as well.

I have a training business which helps companies make better use of their telephone systems

Firearms have always been an interest of mine. I have been competing in benchrest rifle competition since I was old enough to drive myself around. Best results in competition have been a 4th place in the NBRSA Nationals in the U.S., 2nd place in the World Championships 300m, and Australian Champion sporter class.

Martial arts have also been an interest of mine for many years. I have qualified for black belt in both traditional karate as well as kung fu. I was really fortunate to find great instructors who made all the effort worthwhile.

Somehow I managed to find time to learn to fly and for a time I ran a flying school and taught aviation theory to private and commercial pilots.

I live in Australia, in Northern Sydney with my partner who is a policewoman and a great inspiration to me.

I have 4 children who keep me busy as well.
