The nude has always been a subject of great fascination for photographers, the greatest of whom have created many masterpiece nudes in black and white. This is a how-to book on this increasingly popular subject in photography. The first half of the book is a gallery of Lucille Khornak's nudes, presented in four sections: the body in motion, bodies plural, the body unusual, and the body nearly bare. The second half is a step-by-step guide to putting your own nude shooting session together, including creative styling, posing, and lighting techniques. Such topics as shooting in the studio or on location, choosing models, hair and makeup styling, developing film, and printing the final photograph are covered. An appendix provides concise technical data on all photographs in the first half of the book. Picking up where "Classic Farber Nudes" left off, this book gives you all the information you need to shoot fabulous nudes in black and white.

Interesting look at the human form via infrared film,

This is a fairly traditional photgraphy instruction book. The photographs are presented in a gallery format in the front of the book. The second half shows them as a contact sheet with the technical notes added. Fairly comprehensive look at body makeup and lighting. This book strives to be artistic first and educational latter. Ms. Khornak is quite skillful in the art of photography. The infrared images are beautiful. As an educational tool, the format does not really work. Perhaps it would be more educational to have the technical details directly following each image.

A real disappointment,

As an amateur photographer, interested in the black and white nude this was one of my first purchases. It was a real disappointment to say the least. The images in the book are technically well done but I continue to ask myself, "why are these people nude?" For me the images say nothing about the models nor does the interaction of shadow and highlight move me.
