Just keeps getting better and better!,

After buying "Youthquake," "Rip It Up" and then "Mad, Bad and Dangerous to know, I decided to go all the way and pick this one up. I bought it completely blind and I was amazed at how often I find it in my CD player. In my opinion, poor marketing as this group's downfall; this was their best album yet...even warranting a delightful remix version in Japan. A great album after leaving the production team of SAW. "Turn Around and Count 2 Ten" is worth buying the CD for alone. Dance-y, fun, and fabulous. "Come Home With Me Baby" is the most amazing and hilarious track...lyrics like "...Oooh, you're just so lucky, no I don't do this for anyone...I was looking for somebody and you've got the body I want" make DOA a standout band in my book. Other great tracks include "I Don't Wanna Be Your Boyfriend," "Get Out Of My House," and "Give It Back That Love Is Mine." This is one of a handful of albums that I can play straight thru without skipping any tracks; Pete Burns' Gothic diva vibratto and inventive lyrics keep me interested at all times. Pick it up before it goes out-of-print!

Pete keeps the energy pumping,

This largely self produced album, saw the departure of Dead or Alive from their commercial success with SAW. The sound may have not evolved terribly much from their establised high energy formula, but the Japanese found something in this album different to the rest of the world. While the album failed to make the top 50 in most countries around the world, the album was number 1 in Japan. The singles, Turn Around and Count 2 10, Come Home With Me Baby, and Baby Don't Say Goodbye, all very strong high energy tracks - were largely ignored at the time (due maybe to changing musical tastes in the late 80's) and are still very underrated. Turn Around in particular, would have to be the fastest song they have ever done and my favourite all time Dead or Alive song because of it. All three singles were remixed as single releases , so you dont get the best versions here, but close enough to get an idea why all three tracks went number 1 in Japan and why Come Home went to number 1 on the US dance charts in 1989. The other standout tracks include I Dont Wanna Be Your Boyfriend and My Forbidden Lover. What a shame for the dance/pop music world that this was the last album release for Dead or Alive in the UK. Dead or Alive had so much potential to be so far greater a musical force than what they actually achieved. This album goes on record to prove that they could do it on their own without SAW and do it well, VERY WELL!!

US missed a great album.,

Overall, this is my favorite Dead or Alive album. There isn't a bad song on it and it has several catchy tunes that you find yourself singing and/or dancing to. I wore this tape out when it was first released, and over the years I have pulled it out and listened to it for weeks at a time. It's time to wipe off the dust and pull "Nude" out once again. I just don't understand how this album didn't do better in America with such incredible songs as "Come Home With Me Baby", "My Forbidden Lover", "Turn Around and Count 2 Ten", "Baby Don't Say Goodbye" & "I Cannot Carry On". Goes to show how we Americans always overlook something extremely good that is right in front of us in our never ending search for something newer (and what we think is better). Another thing that makes this album so remarkable is the fact the each song flows into the next and perfectly accompanies the previous one. Side one is flawless in doing this and so are the last two tracks on side two. I don't think most people really realize how well produced "Nude" really was/is. Brilliant!

Not Their Best, But Good,

The album cover scares people away. It's obvious why. I was a huge DOA back in the mid 80's, and was eager to hear "Nude". When I picked it up, I was somewhat disappointed. There are some strong dance tracks on the album, but as a whole, the album is not nearly as strong as their previous efforts. Tracks that stand out are "Turn Around And Count 2 Ten", "Come Home With Me Baby" and "I Cannot Carry On".

I remember this album coming out. I bought the US version on cassette and proceeded to wear it out. I loved this album and played it till my ears bleed. I'm a sucker for Mr. Burns over dramatic baritone vocals. Dead or Alive at this point in their career where slowing evolving into a different direction. They were also moving away from the Stockin/Atkins/Waterman sound that made them a world wide sensation in the early eighties. The album still contains some elements of the old sound. The album was very successful in Japan, not so much in US. I don't know that Epic knew how to market Mr. Burns to the Americans. The Japanese version includes the cooler cover compared to the US version and extra tracks. There is no filler here. All great tracks, Some highlights: Turn Around and Count to Ten, Give it Back, Come Home with Me Baby, I Cannot Carry On to name a few. I would list this among some of the best late eighties dance music. Well ahead of its time. Check it out you will not be disappointed

The best Dead Or Alive album ever !,
By dneaeade (Paris, France) - See all my reviews

When they left the Stock, Aitken & Waterman production team, I thought to myself : oh my god, it's too bad, that's going to be the end of them. How wrong was I ! It's not the end, it's the begginning, they're better without them !
This album is filled with non-stop hits : 4 high-energy singles (Turn around and count to ten, Come home (with me baby), Baby don't say goodbye, I cannot carry on (only released in japan) all packed with witty lyrics and brilliant music. Even the album tracks could have been singles : Give it back (that love is mine) is dance and fun, Stop Kicking My Heart Around is the best dead or alive song ever, that music after the chorus is incredible : no dance band has ever been able to do better than this one (and this was written almost 20 years ago now !), My forbidden lover is the most electronic track i've ever listen to in my life (and I'm 33 years old now), there are no words to describe how good it is. The only bad track on this album is I don't wanna be your boyfriend, it sounds so dated and out of place in here, just like the songs of their Fan the flame album that followed the next year (which was unfortunately their downfall). Nude is their best album ever, they have never done better since. The album that followed was a real dissapointment (their music made a jump of 20 years in the past there, a real shame) and their recent releases (Nukleopatra & Fragile) are too bloody noisy and sound like all the bad techno-bands we can hear today where Nude sounded so fresh and unusual. Buy this album, you won't regret it because it's the best dance music album of all times.

This is one of those rare gems that any fan of 80s dance music must have. This is my third DOA album, and I thought that nothing could top Youthquake, "To Know", and Rip It Up. I was very wrong. This one easily surpasses these. All of the songs are excellent, and are generous in length, with some upwards of 5, 6, 7 minutes and are blended into one another to make it a non-stop album of brilliant melodies, catchy lyrics and thumping beats. You'll never grow tired of this one.

Take it off Pete!,

This LP WILL BE LOVED and KISSED by you. Oh yes! Yes! Take it all off. Pete's striptease is a NEED at this point. This LP shows what DoA are really made of. A full maturation has ensued since "Sophisticated Boom Boom". SAW are GONE! Thank the Gods. Such over-rated producers as Stock Aitken and Waterman are missing here, so is the pretencious pop crap. You'll dance, you'll sing, you'll move and you'll probably undress. The shiners here are:
"Don't Say Goodbye", "Come Home With Me Baby". Although you'll find NO filler here. This LP is a must. You must, you must, you must increase your bust, and lips! I love you, and you'll love this undressed gem.

This album was first brought to my attention by my mother. She just loves it. Every song gets your feet jumpin' and your body movin'. We found that this album's beat is great for aerobics. Though this album does not rate perfect, past Dead or Alive tunes are better, it does have a quality even a Mother could love. For the overall album 85% of the songs are easy to listen, fast moving beats but still easy to memorize the lirics. I suggest purchasing this album if you have have time to listen to it in a privite location, most other people will laugh at your outrageous choice in music.
