3.0 out of 5 stars So-so
I purchased "Colorful You" and really enjoyed it, so thought I'd get "Nude Tempo" since it got rave reviews as well. Well, it wasn't what I had hoped ... it was OK at best ... pretty chill to listen to in the car, but couldn't imagine myself really getting into it. But then, a lot of ppl think "Colorful You" is too poppy .. then, I guess...

it doesn't get any better than miguel mig's nude tempo one; thoroughly sexy but musically worthy grooves to get your funk on. i am a jazz musician, an acid jazz and techno music afficionado and a composer of electronic music, endlessly searching for the ultimate level of funk in my grooves. in nude tempo one, the latest in his discography of highly notable albums, miguel migs has continued to assemble extremely hot and sexy beats with 'vintage' feel that just make you say, 'what the *!$% took so long for someone to finally get it right?!' well, thankfully, someone finally has gotten it right, and that person is none other than mr. migs. this album is all killer, no filler. i know, i am sick as you guys are of buying cd's with 1-3 good cuts and a dozen that are total duds. i placed my order through amazon for this cd within maybe 1-2 minutes of hearing the provided audio clips above. there's so, so, so much garbage out there in this field of music that i have no trouble at all sensing when something is 'the real deal.'

5.0 out of 5 stars The best of thumpin' house and sexy disco, June 26, 2002
By
ghibli99 (Arizona, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nude Tempo 1 (Audio CD)
This CD, unlike so many mix CDs on the market, is one of the few that has made me hit the |<< button on my CD player multiple times before the first few tracks had even passed. Mark Farina and Danny Tenaglia have had that power over me with some of their mixes, and this CD joins them, rightfully so. Miguel Migs mixes it all up and serves up an album that can't help but make you move, whether you're sitting down or standing up. The CD starts off with the beautiful Jimpster remix of Hajime Yoshizawa's "Endless Bow". Dreamy (love that pan effect) with a classic conga beat, acid jazz overtones, and great samples, this track lays the foundation for what's to come. The pop-lock friendly "Happiness Is Free" from Onda is incredibly funky and sexy, setting down a lovely transition between the first and third tracks on this mix. The vocals are seductive and penetrate your body as all good vocals should. The Basti & Vincenzo remix of Blue Six's "Love Yourself" is undeniably danceable and uplifting, making the listener feel good about music and life in general. The vocals in this song soar and blend seamlessly with the flowing music and melodic progressions. Stellar, with the conga backings of the first track. Each track continues to layer on deeper house beats and sensibilities, making you feel like you're growing with the music at a club as opposed to the DJ simply delivering the same sound throughout the CD, which would get tiring over a 74-minute journey. As the bassline grooves become more complex, varied, and dark, by the time the CD comes to a close, you realize that you've just been a part of something pretty special. Miguel Migs' "Nude Tempo One" is one of the better uptempo house CDs out there, and comes highly recommended if you enjoyed Mark Farina's "Connect" or the excellent French Session CDs from Distance.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best dance album I've ever heard, September 2, 2004
By

Naked Music always puts out quality efforts, always.

Nude Tempo 1 remains my all-time favorite of their projects to date. This music is perfect for just about anything. The same beat pulsates throught the entire disc, but don't think for a moment that things get monotonous. Upon repeated listens you'll notice glimpses of genius that you may not have caught before -- some obvious and some subtle.

Beautiful; sexy; hard-driving; smooth; jazzy; trippy; psychedelic; lush; you name it...that's Nude Tempo 1. A job well done and much better heard than written about.

(I don't see how Miguel Migs can possibly top Nude Tempo 1, I really don't. But I will be one of the first to buy Nude Tempo 2 whenever it's released.)

Let's say you're a company. You make stuff. When you brand a product with your logo or name, you hope that when people see it they are attracted to it enough to want to buy it without too much thought. Few other labels have done this better than Naked Music in recent memory, and because they remembered not only the first rule of branding ("Make your brand stand out"), but the second ("Follow it up with a good product"). The Naked Music label releases have long been stuff that you can buy sound unheard if you're into house at all, and this album is no exception.

The mood on here is supposed to be hardcore party, but not without the traditional funk/jazz smooth edges of the rest of the stuff that comes out on this label. And nobody puts together a better house mix with that goal in mind than Miguel Migs. The music is light but not without weight, not as vocal-heavy as some other stuff that they've released, and a solid record all around. A great entry-point for people wanting to try out house music, though NM's "Nude Dimensions" Vol. 1 & 2 are all around better discs. Get one of those, THEN this. You'll feel just right and your party will thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Migs is the Maestro!!!!, March 19, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Nude Tempo 1 (Audio CD)
The tracks on this CD just make you wanna melt. Miguel Migs continues the momentum started by the beloved Naked Music. This CD compilation has new tracks from Naked Music heavyweights like Blue Six and Lisa Shaw. However, my favorite is Migs' own "You Bring Me Up". Soulful, sun-drenched, sublime with plenty of bounce. When I first heard this track in the club, it just made me wanna move. Migs not only paid close attention to danceablity, but also to mood and ambience. Especially towards the end of the CD with track like "Satin Souls" and Shaw's "Ultimate High". I feel this CD has the mood and bliss that many thought was lacking on Nude Dimensions Vol. 3.

I recommend this CD...

5.0 out of 5 stars As good as it gets..., March 20, 2002

Stunning! If there was the need for yet another proof, this is it. Miguel Migs is one of the finest palates in the realm of deep house music today. Period. No one else embodies the "Naked" sound better than him. In "Nude Tempo 1", Mr. Migs has put together a selection of the finest tunes around. The sheer musicality of each track is absolutely astounding. The mix is superb and almost flawless. Few seconds into the first track and you know you are in the "Naked" universe. Let the voyage begin. The sweet vocals of track 2 "Happiness is free" by Onda and the sweeter notes of track 3 "Love Yourself" by Blue Six promptly suggest a sexy mood,"Nude Dimensions 1&2" style. Good to see (hear) you again! And it keeps on going with the wonderful trumpets of track 4 "The Dream". Track 5 "Show you my love" by Benedetti feat. Ruffin Jr is a gem. Right there, baby! Believe it or not, it only gets better. There is room for such heavyweights like track 7 "Soul 2 let go" by Derrick White and track 9 "You bring me up" by the man himself. Then something unusual happens. Track 12 "Atmospheric Beats" by Kerri Chandler is an inflection point for the album. You soon find that nodding your head is not enough anymore. This demands some more energetic movements. This demands some sweat. This is dancefloor stuff! The two best tracks in my opinion, track 13 "I can't wait" by Caldwell feat. Omega and track 14 "Aziza" by Satin Souls, follow suit. This is as good as it gets. It makes you wonder where this music can go with some good and "proper" vocals..There is nothing left but to give thanks with track 15 "Ultimate High" by Naked Music Lisa Shaw, as if Miguel is anticipating the reaction of his fans. All in all, highly recommended. I am already salivating at the idea of a sequel.I just hope that the "Nude Tempo 2" will come dressed with few more "proper" vocal tracks.

5.0 out of 5 stars amazing, cheesey moments with vocals..., March 22, 2002
By
This review is from: Nude Tempo 1 (Audio CD)
this is a five-star album no doubt. migs immediately dives into the naked sound that always brings to mind warm sun, jumping and spinning hot skin, blue skies and beautiful vibes. the consistently happy beats, impressively well-placed horn, flute, and guitar solos, and short but well-done mixing are the albums strong points.

the only down-side is that i would on occasion find myself paying attention to the seemingly ever-present lyrics and thinking to myself, "this would go over well if i were staring at some sexy girl in a sun dress dancing in front of me, but the fact that i am sitting at my desk at work listening to some flambuoyant man sing 'i want to show you my love... let me share all the things i have inside. i want to show you my love... come take a walk inside my mind,'" just seems a little too high on the cheese factor. but hey, i am at work.

great driving music, great dancing music... overall just a pleasure to listen to. i just need to make sure to mix the album in with some deep, progressive house albums to counteract the occasional cheese.

so yeah, buy it. there will be plenty of occasions where migs will lift your spirits, send a chill down your spine with the boomin bass and the flaming flute, and heck, he will even 'show you all his love.' who could ask for more?

Wow! Never have I heard a dance CD quite like this...All the tracks blend perfectly together as a cohesive whole and yet its never repetitive or boring. Miguel entices the listener with a variety of instruments, sounds, and styles that build upon each other. The percussion is just phenomenal. The vocals are way above par, seemlessly complimenting the music, and the thumping bassline will get your heart pumping and your feet moving. This was love at first listen for me and I've yet to tire of it!

5.0 out of 5 stars a good CD to have around, December 29, 2004

After hearing one of it's tracks thought that it was a "must have", smooth transitions fool you in to thinking this is a one track CD.
different to what is out there right now and that, something that departs from the mainstream is what attracted me in the first place.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful & Sexy Rebound!, June 22, 2002

After a disappointing and disasterous outting with "Nude Dimensions 3" (yes, even friends of mine with discriminating ears thought so, too), "Nude Tempo One" comes along and supplants my devastation in Naked Music with this sexy and gorgeously smooth mix! Leave it, of course, to deejay Miguel Migs to present a flawless collection of Naked Music titles in one continuously-mixed offering.

Opening "Nude Tempo" with "Endless Bow," you are set for a sexy musical journey of original proportions. This opening track is reminiscent of the start of an enchanting evening out as the sun is setting in the distance. Graced with shimmering vibe arrangements, it flows into "Happiness Is Free" where airy and sexy vocals carry a thumpy house beat which can only be described as the true Naked Music benchmark sound. Not so long after, classic Blue Six steps in with "Love Yourself," and the beat is moderately picked up to compliment the lyrics of this rich entry.

Thumpy, funky beats are heard in Tracks 4 and 7; first in "The Dream" where a solo trumpet is echoed with "da-da-la-la" voices that gives the composition a classic disco flavor. Derrick White's "Soul 2 Let Go" is very synonymous in title and song, as airy keyboards whisk the track with dubbed vocals and an engulfing house reverberation. Track 11 ("Spiritual") carries a nice bossa nova change fused with current house elements. And what's a Naked Music compilation without the sultry and soulful Lisa Shaw? Even though she's technically featured twice on "Nude Tempo One" (as a dub in "You Bring Me Up"), "Ultimate High" is a sweet way to begin winding down this CD before "Release" ultimately concludes this wonderful album.

For you deejays out there looking for a new track to play, check out the vocal mix (on vinyl) "You Bring Me Up" featuring Lisa Shaw -- pure diva house at its most fiercest! This version tears it up!

"Nude Tempo One" is a gorgeous salvation from Naked Music's previous release. With my faith and tranquility in Naked house restored, I am SOOOOOOOOO looking forward to Naked Music's later releases this year of "Carte Blanche 3" and "Pearl" by the sweet Aquanote. As for now, enjoying the sexy blends of "N.T.1" will carry me well during this summer
