Book Description

March 24, 2009
2010. The newest flashpoint is the 'Dos Laredos,' Nuevo Laredo, Mexico connected by two bridges and a rail link to its sister city, Laredo, Texas. Nuevo Laredo: A Prelude To War follows NYC reporter Doug McKenzie whose current assignment is a double murder. Leading him into Northern Mexico and to a violence ridden drug trade that is ending. Principally payoffs from the transshipment and protection of illegal drugs north into the United States. It is being replaced by more benign payoffs made by corporations seeking access to cheap, unregulated labor markets. Elimination of the drug trade will be through a modification of the banking laws of Mexico. Essentially a buyout of the six major drug organizations. The U.S. DEA will overreact, sending in agents to Monterrey, Mexico to bring back the drug lords assembled there for the purpose of disbanding. An equally if not more violent response from Mexico and the helicopter transports will not make it back to home base...

About the Author

The author has had an extensive career in broadcast, as the first Director of Research for Viacom Enterprises, then as a television syndicator representing the Bristol Myers Co., distributing 'In Search Of...' with Leonard Nimoy and then finally licensing historic stock photos and film of New York City and gyrostabilzed aerial footage of Atlanta under the company name, Shotmakers, Inc. Also, the author of 'Suffer The Children' available on Amazon. A forward looking novel and a love story written years before 9/11, against a backdrop of rising fundamentalism and nuclear terrorism. Exploring issues that were not then in the public eye.

4.0 out of 5 stars Color Me Curious!, July 6, 2009
By
Daniel Robinson (Fort Lee, New Jersey) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I am the author, and I am curious why readers would come to this site, read a little bit of the subject matter and leave without a comment. Nothing has been more in the news than the violence associated with the Mexican drug trade. Here presented is a practical solution (a buyout) using a forward looking historical novel as the vehicle. Or are we all so jaded that nothing stirs our imagination.

Perhaps the speed of delivery of information through various media is the problem, Bombarded almost instantly, there is simply no chance to be caught by surprise. Perhaps 'Nuevo Laredo: A Prelude To War' should have been written on a cell phone, delivered instantaneously to millions of users and then promptly forgotten the next day. I would have made some money and most of the downloads read all or in part or discarded into the trash with the rest of the trivia and unwanted messages.

Well, I promised my wife I wouldn't whine, too much. But I do have a proposition for those of you who have taken the time to read this: buy the book in print, or download it on Kindle and if for any reason you do not like it, I will refund your money on proof of purchase.[...] Limited one to a customer. All the best, Dan Robinson - Wanting to be your author.
