Numark's CD Mix-2 combines a full-featured DJ mixer with a dual-transport, high-precision CD player, creating a powerhouse tool for DJs. Whether you're concocting custom mixes for your own recordings or performing live for parties or for professional events, you'll appreciate the system's dual RIAA-equalized phono inputs, 3 line-level inputs, and 2 microphone inputs with independent input levels.

Each of the built-in CD transports offers true buffered instant start, seamless full-CD looping, instant stutter start with selectable stutter points, relay play (deck 1 to deck 2), and Numark's patented Anti-Shock technology, which means your system will never miss a beat, no matter how many feet hit the floor under your spell. A crossfader lets you smoothly transition between 2 inputs and controls the auto start feature of the CD units.

Other features include dual headphone jacks (one .25-inch, one .125-inch) with any-input cueing for each, fader start, a pitch bend/jog wheel (+/- 16 percent), 3-speed scanning forward and reverse, frame-accurate search (1/75 seconds per step), auto-dead space elimination with auto cue, and of course a BPM (beats per minute) counter.

Outputs include master XLR balanced/RCA unbalanced and record outputs with a 3-band equalizer for master output, and a digital-audio output to feed, for instance, a CD or minidisc recorder. You'll never have to strain to read the system's enormous backlit display, and its dual-band, 12-segment LED output meters help you keep tabs on your levels. The CD Mix-2 comes with its own 12V AC/DC power adapter, but you may also power it through a car's cigarette lighter with an optional vehicle power-supply kit, depending on where your activities take you.

Automatic CD tray protection prevents doors from sliding open accidentally and during use, while +10 tracks skip search simplifies access to choice samples buried deep in discs encoded with many tracks. Ready for a break? Program a sequence of up to 30 tracks and let the CD Mix-2 do the DJ-ing.

Wow. If you like to gamble, go for it. I think I am done with Numark. The first dual CD mixer was the Karaoke version. It lasted about 4 months and then stopped reading the CD's. Thought after 2 years to give this one a try as backup for my other gear. I received it yesterday. Plugged it in and everything worked fine. Tonight I hooked everything up and the left CD did not read the disc. I tried a few others, then it read one. The right player read all CD's. Then I noticed that the right player would make CD noises through my amp to the speakers. Every time I advanced the track, it would make noise. When I got the Left player to read and play, it did not make noise when advancing tracks. NOT A GROUND LOOP.

I would stay away. In my business you don't get second chances. When the Bride and Groom are ready to be introduced and the player does nothing. Just picture that and you should have no problem making your decision.

First one, the right cd player quit reading cd's after four times of use. It was returned to Numark for repair and returned to us four months later still with the same problem. They sent a new one that was used twice. Now neither one of the cd players will read cds. If it does, it takes 10 minutes to read them and then it plays 1 second of the song and then skips back to the beginning. All cd's used are in excellant condition! Its not the cd's..its the product..VERY POOR!

This mixer does not have a BPM counter AT ALL. AND the cd players do not read burned cds. I plan to sell my mixer and will think twice before I buy another Numark product. This thing is a piece of junk.
