Excellent value,
This review is from: Numark M2 Professional Scratch Mixer (Electronics)
I have only been mixing now for a few months. This mixer is a great value. It has the essential features for any DJ to practice scratching on: variable crossfader slope, hampster switch, 3-channel EQ.
There are only two problems I have had with it. The first is that I needed to spray some of that magical electrical contact cleaner into the crossfader within the first couple of weeks. Without that the crossfader made quite a bit of noise while traveling. The other problem is that the crossfader slope is not continuously variable. You only have two settings: sharp and....not sharp. The not-so-sharp setting fades out by the center of travel. The sharp setting fades out by the first tick mark on the mixer's face. The fact that there are only two settings keeps you from making a more fine-tune customization. Even mentioning these problems emphasizes them too much. This thing works beautifully and I am having a ton of fun with it.

I bought this mixer to use as a pre-amp and a mic input with a sound system that I use at outdoor events, so I wanted something basic and inexpensive. The M2 is up to the job, but I think the "Professional" part of the name is a bit of a stretch. The construction isn't flimsy but it doesn't seem like it's really meant for daily abuse. It works great for what I need though, the mic input has good level control and the mixer has the appropriate input impedance for direct connection to an MP3 player. If you have an amp that just doesn't get as loud as it should when hooked up to your MP3 player, but does with a more powerful source, you can use one of these to boost the input levels to the stereo.

This thing fried so easily, I'm disappointed in it really. Worked well when it did work. But now it sounds bad.

Excellent Mixer. Easy to install. Just get a couple of good and new turntables (ex. Stanton) and you are set.

These work great for mixing, have great accuracy in bass & treble & are easy to manage even for a novice although this mixer may also be used for an experienced & seasoned DJ...
