Making of "A Thousand Suns"

Biography

A THOUSAND SUNS

We were not making an album.

For months, we'd been destroying and rebuilding our band. The experiments that resulted filled the studio hard drive with diverse, abstract sounds. Amorphous echoes, cacophonous samples, and handmade staccato merged into wandering, elusive melody. Each track felt like a hallucination.

We didn't know if any of those unorthodox ideas could be incorporated… Read more in Amazon's Linkin Park Store

This song is great. It brings out the real talent of this marvelous band and I felt the same way when they came out with In The End. I love this band.

4.0 out of 5 stars LINKIN PARK like rocks....., November 23, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Numb Pt. 1 (Audio CD)
This single is one of my better ones. It has the radio released, Meteora track "Numb". Even though I have seen better videos from LP. But it still is very good. Oh yeah and you can't forget about LP's live explosive perfomance in track 2, "From The Inside". And if you enjoyed it you'll enjoy even more the other "Numb" single featuring the even better , creative "Faint" video. "LINKIN PARK like rocks."

i'd probably buy all of meteora instead the of the single, but if you want the video or just think the rest sucks, then i guess you have no other choice. personally when i heard meteora i thought it would just be a parallel to hybrid theory, and many would argue that it is (hell i thought they were quite similar at first sound) but it seems that meteora has a lot more layers, and even if musically many people may not like it as much as hybrid theory (like me) it shows a lot of growth and sophistication in linkin park. numb is a perfect example. at first though i wanted to parallel it to pushing me away from hybrid theory, but listening to it enough times i found it was completely differnt, especially in meaning. once again mike shinoda reprises his role as super glue making all the various musical components come togethor (including his few rap verses, a piano piece and his extensive sampling) along with producer Don Gilmore. Brad Delson's relatively single chorded guitar has got a perfect nu-metal/rap rock/alternative rock but all togethor heavy vibe un like such songs as breaking the habit or nobody's listening. bassist phoenix, is well a bassist, and he does a damn good job at bassing (thats a word?). Joeseph Hahn with his scratching/keyboarding/bobbing head up and down is doing an awesome job as usual becomming once again the producer of a Linkin Park vid (numb), rob bourdon is smacking the drums with more proficiency than in the last album. it seems meteora has like linkin park defeated all odds (avoiding the sophomore slump) the lyrics are as usual general and can be useful in a variety of different contexts, but as the video shows it seems its aimed towards the teen dealing with parent authority figure and trying to be themselves instead of what the parents want situation. i were you, i'd grab meteora and find the vid on launch.yahoo.com or mtv2. unless u need it on disk like me and then buy it
