5.0 out of 5 stars The Last Hurrah! Well Done! November 9, 2004
Format:Audio CD
Not to be excluded from the list of other artists that have released compilations containing only #1 songs, the Bee Gees have no worries. Although some of the hits didn't actually make #1 in the UK or the USA, some may have been #1 in several other countries, prompting it to be thankfully included here. "Number Ones" features 19-tracks, adding cuts such as the country flavored "Don't Forget To Remember" (#34 in USA/#2 in UK) and the immortal "Words" (#15 USA/#8 UK). Although the Bee Gees never had these few songs at #1, other artists have consistently placed these songs at the top of the charts.

The last song is 2001's "Man in the Middle," a polite MOR rocker and is included as a tribute to the late Maurice Gibb. If you buy this early, you'll get the limited-edition CD/DVD combo which includes rare footage of the Bee Gees performing "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart," "How Deep Is Your Love," "Jive Talkin'," "Massachusetts" and "I Started a Joke" (from the U.K. TV show "An Audience With").

Trivia: Dozens of songs went to #1 in Holland, Germany and Italy and elsewhere. Here are some well-known and rare Gibb songs that have made it to #1.

"Spicks & Specks" (Australia)

"My World" (Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore)

"Run To Me" (Hong Kong, Singapore)

"Saw A New Morning" (Hong Kong)

"Wouldn't I Be Someone" (Hong Kong)

"Love So Right" (Brazil)

The list goes on and on and will continue to be the legacy of three brothers from Manchester, England.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Different Collection Than The USA Version! November 22, 2004
Format:Audio CD
Not to be excluded from the list of other artists that have released compilations containing only #1 songs, the Bee Gees have no problems. Although some of the hits didn't actually make #1 in the UK, some may have been #1 in several other countries, prompting it to be thankfully included here.

The song "Man in the Middle" is included as a tribute to the late Maurice Gibb. "Number Ones" features 20-tracks, adding cuts such as "More Than a Woman" and "Islands in the Stream," a 1983 No. 1 hit for Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers.

In this version, "More Than A Woman" replaces the USA versions "Lonely Days" and adds the tracks, "Immortality" and "Islands In The Stream", which are the same versions that are on "The Record".

3.0 out of 5 stars Make you wonder... November 11, 2004
Format:Audio CD
Why they didn't include "To Love Somebody", even though it never went to #1. The reason I state this is because 4 songs here: "Words", "World", "Don't Forget To Remember" and "I Started A Joke" never went to #1 in the US or UK. But then the compilers never tell us what chart methology they're using. Maybe they're including Germany or France or Australia. Who knows? There are no liner notes here, and the packaging has a rush job feel to it. The 5 song DVD is good. As a one CD summation of the Bee Gees' career, this is okay. But you're better off sticking with For The Record, which costs a couple dollars more, but is more thorough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great album.
you just don't get to hear the earlier stuff on radio any more. I wish they had included New York Mining Disaster 1941 in this collection.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bought this using my incentive to try out Amazon Cloud
The album is OK, I really like three of the songs, at the very most. The price was right. Wished I had used on something else though.

I honestly didn't know the Bee Gees were so prolific or had so many number one hits. Granted, not every song on this album was a number one hit in America, but they all were... Read more
