Book Description

Soon To Be A Feature Film -

“The most creative use of description I have read in nearly any work of fiction, ‘Number Seventy-Five’ is guaranteed to pull you into the characters’ senses. There are more emotions and action in these seventy-two pages than works twice as long.” – Dianna Skowera – Readers’ Favorite

“Ashley Fontainne proves with ‘Number Seventy-Five’ that she's a talent to watch.”
--Raymond Benson, author of The Black Stiletto series

“With an attention to detail, and a slowly building sense of dread and horror, Ashley Fontainne’s “Number Seventy-Five” will have you racing through her story of online connection, and just how bad things can go on a date. This is tale that, with its Hitchcockian twists dealing with greed and murder, I dare you to stop reading.”
-- Matt Costello, author of Vacation and Home

"I absolutely love this woman's style and plots. Have to read anything and everything she writes. Awesome talent! Oh, the twists and turns she takes us on. Thanks, Ashley Fontainne, for creating such memorable works!"
-- Janelle Taylor, NY Times bestselling author

"Fontainne is back again with a neck snapping, jaw dropping thriller you will not be able to put down."
-- Zach Fortier, bestselling author of Curbchek, Curbchek: Reload, Streetcreds and Hero to Zero

I said it before and I'll say it again: No one writes better revenge stories than Ashley Fontainne. If there were an action heroine category in literature (outside of comic books), I could picture this author in a magnificent pink jump-suit topped by a purple satin cape soaring the heavens in search of wrongs to right! Talk about life being stranger than fiction!

This story of lost love, murder, mayhem and betrayal leads to revenge on a colossal scale.

The action starts right up front with the main character, nurse Mandy Russell, going on a date for the first time since her divorce a few years before. She discusses internet dating with her best friend and accepts a date from a man she's been emailing. She sets up a safe "out" with her friend in case anything goes wrong. Her date, Michael, is the perfect gentleman, so she heads home satisfied that the date had been a success.

En route home, something happens to her car and Mandy is stranded. Then, miracle of miracles, Michael comes along to rescue her... she thinks! But all is not as it appears and Mandy awakens bound on the ground in a cave with a man beside her, digging a hole in the ground... But that's about all I can tell you without spoiling the entire plot.

Why is Mandy inside a cave? Who is the man that's digging and what is he digging? Where is Michael? What does she do when she recognizes the digger's voice? How in the world will she escape? Will her friend come to her rescue? How does she manage to escape...or does she?

What significance does the number 75 have to this story? (I warn you, the answer might give you nightmares...)

But most important, who is seeking revenge...and against whom?

5.0 out of 5 stars A great short story! April 18, 2013
This is a fantastic short story from a very talented author. Fontainne is known for nail-biting, revenge-filled thrillers, and Number Seventy-Five is no exception. She takes something as normal as online dating, and not only projects every woman's deeply rooted fear into the story, but manages to skillfully input empowerment and survival into every twist and turn. The heroine is relatable, strong, and no-nonsense, and I enjoyed going along on this terrifying ride with her as she fights for her life with nothing more than her wit and courage. Kudos to Ms. Fontainne for an excellent thriller that clearly showcases her talent for the genre. I can't wait to read her other books!

5.0 out of 5 stars Seventy-five Dates or Death? April 19, 2013
This Novella, tightly written and graphically described, is not only a page turner, it is a paragraph turner. Mandy Russell, nurse, and a forty-one year old divorcee, was tired of being alone. Her ex-husband's bed-hopping had been disastrous to her ego and as she said to her best friend, Shawnna, she wanted a lover, a man to protect her and to respect her. Shawna encouraged her to do some on-line dating and eventually she did work up the nerve to meet Jacob Wilson. She selected a nice restaurant where many of her best friends who were cops also hung out. She met and worked with many in her hospital's ER. That way, she could feel safe. Also she pre-typed a text message saying "escape" that she would send to Shawna if she needed help or an excuse to leave Jacob.

The evening went well. Jacob was good looking and their conversation was casual. Although there was something about Jacob that didn't appeal to Mandy, he was nice enough. During their supper hour, Jacob excused himself to go the bathroom and he was gone quite a long time. They left the restaurant fairly early and Jacob gave her a light kiss, which made Mandy feel comfortable with him, together with the fact that he made no sexual innuendos.

On her way home in a dark section of the highway, she had to stop because of a flat tire. Mandy had always been afraid of being stalled on the highway after dark and it was like her nightmare began. Then car lights appeared, and the car stopped. Mandy recognized the voice of Jacob when he asked her if she had a problem. When she told him, he got his tire iron out of his trunk and headed for Mandy, not the tire.

And so began a night of horror, pain and betrayal. It is amazing how this author was able to tell so much in a novella length story, but she did, and it kept me glued to it until I finished it
Anyone who likes mysteries, intrigue and extreme anger will enjoy this story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Beach Reading May 22, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This could have been written as a full novel, but it makes for perfect reading pool side or at the beach or lake! This read is full of suspense (Ashely is quite good at that!) and we have all, or know someone who has, met a date via online dating sites...but AF takes it to a whole new level. This book has it all: the nervousness of dating again, betrayal by friends, and, in pure Ashley Fontaine style, revenge!
If you are looking for a read you can't put down, but don't have three days to spend on the couch, get this one and enjoy! Another job well done by Ashley Fontaine!

More About the Author

Award-winning and International bestselling author Ashley Fontainne is an avid reader of mostly the classics. Ashley became a fan of the written word in her youth, starting with the Nancy Drew mystery series. Stories that immerse the reader deep into the human psyche and the monsters that lurk within us are her favorite reads.

Her muse for penning the EVISCERATING THE SNAKE series was The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. Ashley's love for this book is what sparked her desire to write her debut novel, Accountable to None, the first book in the trilogy. With a modern setting to the tale, Ashley delves into just what lengths a person is willing to go when they seek personal justice for heinous acts perpetrated upon them. The second novel in the series, Zero Balance focuses on the cost and reciprocal cycle that obtaining revenge has on the seeker. For once the cycle starts, where does it end? How far will the tendrils of revenge expand? Adjusting Journal Entries answered that question: far and wide.

Her short thriller entitled Number Seventy-Five, touches upon the sometimes dangerous world of online dating. Number Seventy-Five took home the BRONZE medal in fiction/suspense at the 2013 Readers' Favorite International Book Awards contest and is currently in production for a feature film.

Her latest release, the suspenseful thriller The Lie, took home the GOLD medal in the 2013 ILLUMINATION BOOK AWARDS for ebook/fiction.
