5.0 out of 5 stars Ash's wildest release; a great blast of energy, February 12, 2001
This review is from: Numbskull (Audio CD)
This 6 track EP was only made available in limited numbers, so think yourselves lucky that you can get it here. Numbskull itself was one of the hardest moments on Nu-clear Sounds, adn the group have chosen B-Sides to emphasise this end of their scale. The live tracks here see them on ferociously energetic form, Jesus Says benefitting from the turntable skills of Dick Kurtaine, and Fortune Teller turning a mediocre album track, which somehow fell apart a minute in, into a powerful 70s type rocker. Those who remember Girl From Mars as a bouncy Britpop tune will be amazed by how hefty it sounds here. The covers of Nirvana and Mudhoney are quality as well, indeed it was upon hearing Who You Drivin' Now on here that I investigated Mudhoney's music, and now I love it. The one of Blew is the weakest track, but it still isn't bad by any means, just not a patch on the original. Recommended
