Book Description

0521583918 978-0521583916 June 28, 1997
A comprehensive, up-to-date, and accessible introduction to the numerical solution of a large class of integral equations, this book builds an important foundation for the numerical analysis of these equations. It provides a general framework for the degenerate kernel, projection, and Nyström methods and includes an introduction to the numerical solution of boundary integral equations (also known as boundary element methods). It is an excellent resource for graduate students and researchers trying to solve integral equation problems and for engineers using boundary element methods.

Review

' This outstanding monograph ... represents a major milestone in the list of books on the numerical solution of integral equations ... deserves to be on the shelf of any researcher and graduate student interested in the numerical solution of elliptic boundary-value problems.' H. Brunner, Mathematics Abstracts 'It will become the standard reference in the area.' Zietschrift fur Angwandte Mathematik und Physik

Book Description

A comprehensive, up-to-date, and highly-readable introduction to the numerical solution of a large class of integral equations, this book lays an important foundation for the numerical analysis of these equations. It provides a general framework for the degenerate kernel, projection, and Nyström methods and includes an introduction to the numerical solution of boundary integral equations (also known as boundary element methods). It is an excellent resource for graduate students and researchers trying to solve intergral equation problems and for engineers using boundary element methods.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very poor quality binding, December 15, 2011

This review is from: The Numerical Solution of Integral Equations of the Second Kind (Cambridge Monographs on Applied and Computational Mathematics) (Hardcover)
The binding of this book is a glue-only construction of extremely low quality --- no stitching, just a stack of pages glued together. The book cannot lie open, nor close properly. Print quality is also very low. The lack of quality in construction of this book is not consistent with its price.
