5.0 out of 5 stars Best book ever written on the subject
As a professional numerologist, I have a whole book shelf full of numerology books. But none of them are written as concisely or contain the depth and detail as "Numerology: The Complete Guide," by Matthew Goodwin. 3.0 out of 5 stars Not for beginners
I have both volumes by this author to try and expand my knowledge of numerology. I'm familiar with the esoteric numerology which I have been using on and off for decades. Unfortunately, the author has failed to give an explanation of what modified numbers are. Not a good book for beginners. Took me some time to realize that modified numbers come from a change in name...

As a professional numerologist, I have a whole book shelf full of numerology books. But none of them are written as concisely or contain the depth and detail as "Numerology: The Complete Guide," by Matthew Goodwin. Of all the numerology books I own, this is the one I consider my bible--that I refer to all the time. It is the only book out today that actually shows you how to do an integrated reading. All other books I have ever seen leave it to your intuition and experience to figure out how to do a professional reading. And the well written and organized tables at the back of the book make the information easily accessible. Though this might not be the best book for a beginner, it certainly is the best book ever written on the subject and is well suited for the intermediate and advanced students of numerology. Another benefit of this book is that if you own one of the several numerology software programs written by Matthew Goodwin (available from Widening Horizons), then you'll find this book of great value in better understanding how the detailed and indepth reports are constructed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for business, social, and all life's paths, June 18, 2003

This book is one of a two volume set. I highly recommend that one buys both. However, if you can only buy one the volume 1 is a must but save up for this volume since it completes the subject.

Numerology : The Complete Guide (Volume 2) by Matthew O. Goodwin

I had used this book and its accompanying Volume 1 since the 1980's. For you trying to decide whether to purchase this, my nearly 20 years of experience with this volume is not as effective as my pointing to solid facts:
My grandmother is in her 90's so she has had a lot of life lived to this point. I could take her chart, from following the directions in this book, and match it chronologically to major milestones in her life.
One such example is that her year 1961 change from 6's and 2's to straight 1's. For the novice, 6's are love and balance traits, 2's are teamwork traits, 1's are independence traits. So what happened in 1961 you might ask... Her loving companion and husband, my grandfather died shy of turning 52. She has been single ever since.
I could named hundreds of examples from calculating life readings from this book, but this is simple example to which all can relate.
I highly recommend this book and, if you can get it, Volume 1 is must have! Matthew Goodwin truly has made some very valuable tools with his two volume on Numerology.

Numerology : The Complete Guide (Volume 1) by Matthew O. Goodwin

I cannot emphasize how strongly I feel that this book can help you in life.
I am an IT professional by trade and I am an Intuitive Counselor in my spare time. I use the knowledge gleened from this book daily.
You're still not impressed? I have been using this book's information since the 1980's when I first discovered this. I did life calculations on all of my close family and friends. I was amazed. This was better than any astology chart ever made for them. ACCURATE and USEFUL!
As a parent, I have saved myself some anguish by guiding my children into their strengths rather than fighting them into a weakness. An example is I have a child with strong 7's and no 3's. (7's are analytical and 3's are creative) She excells at geology and gardening and all things nature bound but cried after a couple of months in music lessons. She was better in music after having her relate the notes to mathmatical function so that she could "figure" them out.
You can tell if your boss is a team player by the location of his "2" traits. (2's being teamwork tendencies)
I could go on and on but you are probably reading this to determine if you should purchase or even just read this volume. THIS IS A MUST FOR ALL LIFE'S PATHS.
This volume cover the general gifts you have received based on the name you were given and then use and your birthdate. It can show you how you change when you have a name change (i.e., a woman marries and takes her husband's name or John calls himself Skip in certain situations).
If you would like to plot your life out similar to an astrological life reading, you will need volume 2 by Matthew Goodwin.

5.0 out of 5 stars AT LAST!, July 11, 2003
By A Customer
This is the best book I have ever seen on this TYPE of subject. Studying astrology, numerology, cards, fung shui, etc., most books leave you with the feeling that after about 47 more books of the same type, you might start getting to the meat of the subject. Not these. This two-volume set tells you everything, from the ground up. There is no colorful formatting that the info. has to fit into, no little gimmicks to make it interesting. Goodwin is a graduate of MIT, and this book looks more like a textbook -- one fitting the serious student of numerology. But the book is still readable; this book is VERY thorough, but NOT AT ALL complicated. No other texts will be necessary for a lifetime understanding of how to use numerology.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thorough and Well Written, January 12, 2002
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Numerology the Complete Guide, Volume I: The Personality Reading (Paperback)
Having done numerology now for many years, I must agree with all previous reviewers. This 2 volume set is the clearest written, most thorough and complete guide to the subject of numerology. It is the book I most refer to when doing readings, and it covers all aspects of the subject.
The only drawback the 2 books present to an aspiring numerologist is, paradoxically, its strength: being such a complete guide to the subject, there may a tendency to rotely follow the examples given, neglecting your own intuition when doing a reading. Of course, it is important to "read what the numbers say," but the overall tone of a reading must also come from a connection to source energy through your own intuition. But this is really a trivial point in comparison to the excellence of Mr. Goodwin's work.
The 2 volume set comes complete with tables and descriptions for every part of a reading, and Mr. Goodwin has many sample readings which will get you started.
Without question, this 2 volume set is the best description of the subject you can find, and should be required reading for any numerologist.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, April 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Numerology the Complete Guide, Volume I: The Personality Reading (Paperback)
I must say when I first bought the book, I skimmed through it to start with, but it's so well laid out and structured that I was able to do the reading straight away without having to fully read through volumes I and II. It's excellent the way it is explained for the beginner and advanced alike, excellent charts as well as templates. A steal for the price!

5.0 out of 5 stars The most thorough work I have seen on the subject., April 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Numerology the Complete Guide, Volume I: The Personality Reading (Paperback)
Mr. Goodwin takes you step by step through a complete study of Numerology. He not only teaches you the basics of Numerology but in a very unique way, shows you how to uncover the many nuances involved in how numbers and letters relate to each other. I especially liked how he explains the difference between a balanced number, an underbalanced number, and an overbalanced number. This helps people understand the choices they have in using the numbers that may be included in their name and date of birth. I also enjoyed his tech nique for presenting information to the client, both positive and negative, in a manner that would be easy for the client to receive. These volumes are a must for anyone who is serious about learning more about Numerology.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for any budding Numerologist, March 12, 2002
This review is from: Numerology the Complete Guide, Volume I: The Personality Reading (Paperback)
This is the first book I have found which not only shows you the meaning of the numbers, but also weighs the numbers in regards to each other. Mr. Goodwin even shows you step by step how to combine the information given by each number to come up with a complete derivation. This is the best Numerology book I have read to date and it will probably spend little time on my bookshelf and most of it's time on my desk as I use it repeatedly.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the greatest works on the subject ..., September 24, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Numerology the Complete Guide, Volume I: The Personality Reading (Paperback)
This one comes in two volumes ... and is one of the greatest works on the subject, by far. This book is beautifully organized, making it very easy to navigate and find what you want. Mr. Goodwin explains the science of numbers in simple terms and puts a meaningful experience behind the study! You can create readings within minutes of getting these two volumes ... and years of study will also keep you returning to these chapters. Either way, you won't go wrong with these on your shelf. ~~A. J. Katona
