I bought this product because it's what Erin McKenna uses at Babycakes bakery, and I wanted my homemade cupcakes to taste just like theirs. In the end, though, I found myself feeling disappointed by a mediocre vanilla that cost far more than I wanted to pay. I know it's fair trade and all, and maybe that's why it's so expensive; but I think I could get just as good results with an average supermarket vanilla. Don't get me wrong, my baking turned out fine...but the vanilla certainly did not "sing" to me! In the bottle, it actually smells more like alcohol than vanilla to me (although I do not know the alcohol percentage).

Bottom line: if fair trade is important to you, consider this product. If not, there are better-tasting, more affordable vanillas.
