Love 'em!, February 6, 2005
This is the first "Nunsense" show I've ever seen and it is freakin' hilarious and also very moving. Apart from being great comedians, these nuns and Father Virgil have great voices. Wish I could say the same for Rue McLachanan. Favorite moments:
1. Intro
2. "A time when Robert Anne sneaks out to Clancy's for a beer"
3. Ball-breaker
4. Secret Santa
5. "We'll fix it in the edit."
6. Santa Ain't Comin' to Our House
7. Sister Julia, Child of God
8. The Nutcracker (Take Two)
9. Jesus Was Born in Brooklyn (very moving)
10. In The Convent
11. We Three Kings of Orient Are Us (with references to Tom Cruise and Harrod's and a salad shooter)
12. Catholic Home Shopping Service
13. It's Better to Give Than it Is To Receive
These are the specifics but I haven't been too specific about them because I don't want to ruin it for y'all. So what are you all waiting for? Get this DVD but get it around Christmas because it'll look weird if you do it at this time of year. Also, there is a special video insert cameo by John Ritter. It's very moving and very sad because Mr. Ritter is no longer with us. Buy Nuncrackers!

Fun, but not as good as the original, November 3, 2007
Of course, what IS as good as its original?
While some of the original cast are still present (especially Rue McClanahan and the wonderful Semina De Laurentis) many are not -- including Christina Toy Johnson and Terri White -- which is a pity as I had gotten to like the original cast and characters.
This time out, the sisters have a cable access studio and have decided to make a Christmas special. The show is full of original songs by Dan Goggin, the creator of "Nunsense," is directed by David Stern who did the original so he knows how to work this material to its best advantage, and all the songs have the same feel as Goggin's original tunes although perhaps not quite as catchy overall. But with great titles such as "The Twelve Days Prior to Christmas" you can expect some funny stuff.
Of all the incarnations of "Nunsense," I would place this a solid third behind "Nunsense," and "Nunsense 2: the Sequel" and miles above both the Vicki Lawrence "Nunsense Jamboree" and the oh-why-did-they-do-that "Nunsensations! The Vegas Review."
If you have the first two editions of the Nunsense world, this is a good add and worth the time and cost. But stop here. Do not proceed beyond this point. If you have, come back to this one for a renewal of your Nunsense faith.

"Mt. St. Helen's version of the Nutcracker", January 15, 2006
Thank the Deity, someone had the good "nunsense" to bring back the original Sr. Mary Paul and Rue McClanahan. What happened to Srs. Robert Ann, Mary Leo, and Mary Hubert? Though cute and entertaining, the original cast is still the best. In addition. let Sr. Amnesia take care of Sr. Mary Annette, the puppet. If you're a Nunsense fan, I'd recommend buying it, but beware, it's not as good as 1 and 2.
