More About the Author

Lee Juslin lives in eastern NC with the "real" Nurse Frosty who is a certified therapy dog.
Lee and Frosty make weekly visits to an assisted living facility in their home town and are members of Love on a Leash, a national organization of therapy pets and their handlers. The Nurse Frosty stories and Lee's other books are an outgrowth of Frosty's therapy work.
While the Nurse Frosty books are written with middle school aged children to enjoy, Lee and Frosty say their real purpose in writing the Nurse Frosty books is to encourage children and their parents to talk about what it means to live in an assisted living facility or nursing home as well as how animals and humans can relate on an emotional level. And, they say, if along the way people become interested in pet therapy, that would be a wonderful thing, too.
You can meet Nurse Frosty and learn more about her therapy work on Frosty's page at www.hampshirehooligans.com.
While the Nurse Frosty stories are primarily aimed at children, the stories are interesting enough to attract adults, as well. The full color, original and whimsical illustrations make the books keepsake items for dog lovers.

Scottie Collectors familiar with Arooo Studios will love the illustrations and Children will be taken-in by the story at the Four Paws Retirement Home.

Nurse Frosty, the Scottie Terrier, has a custom designed Nurse mobile that transports her around town & to the Retirement Home, where she attends to the four-footed retirees. The real Nurse Frosty, is an award winning Therapy Scottish Terrier in her own right, who lives with the author Lee Juslin.

The book is illustrated by Karen Donnelly, well know for her Scottish Terrier characterizations in the both the Scottie community and other Dog Breeds.

The "tails" of the Four Paws residents Miz Bullsy, Rodney Rabbitzki, Miss Peggity and the ever present Champion "pink" Pudhul is captivating and when children read this book their imaginations will activate.

This is a must have book for the Holidays, special occasions or children who love animals. Scottie Collector's young & old have this book on their wish list. It is a wonderful read to the children, or sit down with your Scottie and read for yourself. It is a wonderful dedication to therapy dogs whatever their breed.

Nurse Frosty and the Four Paws Retirement Home is a charming book for adults and children alike. Have a relative going to live in a retirement home and need to explain it to your child? This book will help. Miss Bullsy has moved into Four Paws and is determined to stay in her room. Nurse Frosty knows this attitude needs some adjustment and sets a plan in motion to make Miss Bullsy feel at home. The characters treat each other kindly, have fun and know it takes time to get used to a change this big. There are many good lessons for children in this book, taught through both the text and delightful drawings.

In addition, you learn about pet provided therapy, the real Nurse Frosty's passion. The artwork is detailed and fun - you will find something new to make you smile, on every page, each time you look.

This makes a great gift for a child, an adult facing the retirement home choice and any Scottie collector. A portion of the proceeds helps the STCA Rescue Trust Fund for Scottish Terriers. Be sure to look for Nurse Frosty's next adventure, Nurse Frosty Saves the Day! a retirement home mystery, available now.

Nurse Frosty's debut is a delightful story, with engaging characters and upbeat messages about coping with difficult life changes. Children will love hearing about the Nurse's antics and adults will find humor in many of the situations, too. Despite the light-heartedness in the book, it's a wonderful way to open up a dialogue about a topic that is not always easy to approach. There is something for everyone in this touching book.
