Classic nursery rhymes sport a new look in this collection--in a format that is especially user-friendly for hearing impaired readers. In addition to the traditional texts of favorites such as Little Miss Muffet and Humpty Dumpty, the various rhymes are phonetically presented in signed English. Each spread contains a full-color illustration and, on the facing page, small black-and-white line drawings of a Mother Goose figure that demonstrate the proper signage for each word. The warm-hued paintings are serviceable, but the figures are a bit static and the scenes--particularly the backgrounds--lack detail. Mother Goose's hardy fare still shines, however, providing a thoughtful title with plenty of crossover appeal. Ages 7-10.

What makes this title different from many other sign-language-enhanced books is that it very clearly explains what Signed English is, and then uses extremely well-done drawings of a Mother Goose figure performing each sign. The nursery rhymes are: Humpty Dumpty; Baa,Baa, Black Sheep; Five Little Pigs; Little Bo Peep; Pat-A-Cake; Little Boy Blue; Old Mother Hubbard; The Cat and the Fiddle; Little Miss Muffet; Little Jack Horner; Mary had a Little Lamb; Rain; Jack Be Nimble; & Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. The signs are simple and clear.

As a teacher, I found this book very useful.

I am a beginer at sign and did not know the diference between ASL and Signed English. This book has simple Illistrations that are fun and chalanging. I purchesed it to learn to sign nursry rhymes for my 18mo. son. I quit using this book because I was unable to remember the signs very well. Now I am using video to learn the signs first. My son enjoys the pictures and I will learn the signs then the rhymes later. A good book but not for beginers.

Someone who has this book, please list the nursery rhymes that are included in it. I don't know why editor's book reviews for books with multible contents don't list the titles included.
