Carmen Kosicek, RN, MSN has an extensive academic and professional background--in the fields of nursing and healthcare.

Carmen has helped hundreds of nurses and nursing students to envision a brighter nursing future filled with possibilities. With her love of business, she has assisted her nursing clients to increase their incomes by 20 percent or more within 18 months.

Contemporary, passionate and thought provoking, Carmen challenges nurses with support, encouragement and guidance to reach beyond their envisioned expectations. She guides them, with step-by-step techniques on how they can position themselves in the nursing field for continued career growth and success. Carmen explicitly presents a 21st Century proactive approach affording nurses the opportunity to protect their coveted RN license within today's vicious litigious arena--above and beyond traditional malpractice coverage.

Carmen's career began when she earned an associate of applied science degree in nuclear medicine from Triton College in River Grove, Ill., a bachelor of science in nursing from St. Joseph College of Nursing at the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Ill., and a master of science in nursing with a 4.0 GPA from the globally-recognized leader in nursing education, The Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

Carmen pursued her postgraduate education at one of the top 15 nurse-midwifery and nurse practitioner programs in the country, Frontier University in Hyden, Ky., where she obtained a certificate as an Advanced Practice Nurse in nurse-midwifery. Additional studies in healthcare economics and disease management led Carmen to a CMR certificate from the Certified Medical Representative Institute in Richmond, Va.

Intrigued by the expanding field of healthcare economics, Carmen became a licensed health, life, and legal agent with the Illinois Division of Insurance. She has continued fueling her commitment to lifelong learning with courses at The Rich Dad Education Co. and Tigrent Learning.

Carmen also has gained a wide array of practical, firsthand experience in nursing and business. Many of her inspirational insights come from the broad and strong knowledge base she built throughout her healthcare career.

Carmen started her healthcare career as a certified nuclear medicine technologist and went on to land her first BSN-RN position straight out of nursing school in women's health--labor and delivery. She then became an OB Nurse Manager and finished her full time clinical nursing career as an Advanced Practice Nurse-Midwife.

The business world pulled Carmen into healthcare sales. Eight years with Pfizer Inc., once the world's largest pharmaceutical company, gave Carmen solid, foundational knowledge of the field.

Keeping active in nursing via Maxim Healthcare Services, the largest privately held healthcare staffing company in the nation, Carmen's healthcare experience expanded in the arenas of maximum security prison nursing, hospice nursing and community health nursing.

Then collegiate education and writing came calling. For eight years, Carmen has been a nursing adjunct professor in both ADN and BSN programs in the private and for-profit sectors. In 2012, she became a director of development in Nursing & Health Professions for Corinthian Colleges Inc., one of the largest post-secondary education companies in North America. In July 2012, she decided to share and publish her knowledge.

Carmen has been seen on NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox News for her innovative insights and nursing career coaching!

Nurses, Jobs and Money is her first book--it's a must-read for every nurse and everyone who is one and/or wants to become one!

Carmen, her husband of 23 years, and their two children reside in Chattanooga, Tenn., overlooking the Appalachian and Cumberland mountain ranges.

To contact Carmen for one-on-one mentoring, to have Carmen personally help you with your resume, to learn how to protect your RN license, or to book her for a speaking event at your college or post college venue, go to www.CarmenKosicek.com or contact her at Carmen@CarmenKosicek.com .

Nurses, Jobs, and Money is a must read! It gives great detail about how to advance in the evolving nursing career. It is very detailed and straight foward without any sugarcoating. Its a great book for anyone considering the nursing profession or nurses who have time already invested in it. Carmen looks outside traditional hospital and doctor's office jobs and helps not only further your career financially, but also physically and mentally. This is an impressive short book that is sure to provide long future benefits. Kudos to Ms. Kosicek!

First, I want to say that nursing jobs are not as easy to get as they claim and the field is becoming saturated. Once you read this book, you will be able to see where to go from here and draw a map of your career that is very tangible. Carmen shows you just what to look for, how to further your career, how to further educate yourself and how to think "outside the box". Pick this book up today....you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't and you value your career...I promise!!!!

I've been a BSN for several years and have read numerous books on nursing. This book out-far provided the most relevant and realistic information! For what I have spent on my nursing education, this book is well worth its weight in gold.

I had left my job at the hospital feeling beat, down and ready to leave nursing altogether. I am in my 50's, and had started feeling like I was trapped with no where to go. I got this book for free and thought "why not". Spent the next day reading this book. The first chapter didn't wow me at all, but as I continued to read this book, I realized that Carmen really knows what she is talking about. She really knows the realities of the market and her advice is sound. Even the "outside the box" examples are real and can be implemented by anyone. They aren't just ideas that are so far fetched that only one or two people in the world could do them. Because of all her ideas, I now have a new plan and a roadmap. I am once again excited about a future in nursing. I would recommend this book to any one in nursing school or experienced in the nursing field. It is well worth the cost of the book!!! Carmen, I can't thank you enough!

Carmen Kosicek and her book are AMAZING!!! In her book, Carmen tells it like it is, straight forward and to the point. Not only does she explain the why and how as to the Nursing Industry's current state, but she also gives specific, easy to follow advice on what steps to take to further and protect one's self in their nursing career. This book should be read by anyone who has ever considered nursing as a profession before they even take step one towards that goal. Carmen's guide will make it much easier every step of the way!!! Kudos, Ms. Kosicek! YOU ROCK!!!

This book is wonderful! It really gives a realistic perspective for new nurses. I just graduated in May and I wish I had this book a couple years ago. It would have been a fantastic tool and resource for planning my goals and career objectives starting while in school. This book would be fantastic for any nurse, new or not. It gives such a realistic view of the career field. It empowers the individual to take their career into their own hands at any stage of their career. I can not suggest this book enough!!! I know I will read it, highlight and take notes to refer back to. Thank you to the author!!!

This book is a must read. After making the decision to leave the business & accounting background I have to pursue a nursing career, I never thought I would be able to utilize both of these degrees together. I have hope for the many opportunities that I will face once I am finished with nursing school. This book is full of helpful tips and real information that can tremendously help many new and old nurses.

I am currently a nursing student, and this book is a great tool for me to start thinking about life after graduation. There are so many things that I have never considered before, such as where I want to work, and how to go about getting my first nursing job, that I would have been lost once I graduated from school. I am very glad for this book!
