I am a current nursing student, and i kept this book with me throughout my psychiatric clinical rotation. This book gave me all the nursing diagnoses related to a specific psychiatric problem and the nursing interventions that would be appropriate. This is a must-have for anyone in psychiatric nursing!

This book was THEE only care plan book I used to help me through my Psych class and clinical rotation. My fellow students borrowed it every chance they got! I received 100% in all clinical projects (IPR, med-teach, client-teach, care plan, MSA's) due to this book. MUST HAVE for any psych rotation.

Great resource for development of clinical objectives, when writing treatment plans, or any documenting in the clinical field. My favorite assessment tool.

I bought this book to have something I could carry to work. It's succinct and easy to use. I carry it in my purse when I'm working and I can usually find what I'm looking for if it's psychiatric and mental health. The appendix includes tools for mental status assessments, assigning nursing dx to client behaviors and Gaf scores. If you're looking for a quick, handy resource this book will fit the bill.

We really didn't use this book in Mental Health a whole lot. Plus I don't know how helpful it would be to someone who is a little more experienced and choosing to go into the field. It has decent care plans and is an excellent resource for psych drugs. Davis Drug Guide doesn't necessarily cover 100% of potential side effects in psych drugs. This goes into a little more depth. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I don't really know if it was worth the price for my level. I could have gotten a comparable care plan from a more general care plan book (like Taylor and Sparks), and I think the drug information may have turned up on a good Google search. If you have a really intense need to write incredibly involved care plans for your class, this might fit the bill. Otherwise just go and buy a good general care plan book used and save some money.

I am a junior in my BSN program. I had my 13 week clinical rotation in Psych and enjoyed it quite a bit. I bought this book after my experience in class and clinical for future reference. I like the book a lot. Compared to other "clinical companions" like the ones Mosby puts out, this one is organized a bit differently.

In my opinion, I think that the headings and fonts used could be clearer. I just think that the layout of how things are organized could be clearer. I think also that there could have been more clinical manifestations when it comes to the different psychiatric disorders. Otherwise, good summary and I like it a lot.

This is the second time I have bought this book. I used it during nursing school to develop care plans when I did the mental health rotation. After I graduated I sold it, never expecting to work in psychiatric nursing. The future is often strange and unpredictable as I am now doing just that. This book is clear, easy to follow, with easy to read type. It will be very helpful and handy on my new job. The size is also an advantage as it can fit in my pocket, purse, bag, etc.

I would also recommend this book for nurses who work in the ER as many of the patients have psychiatric issues acute, chronic and temporary.

I wished my instructors required this book for our psych nursing rotation. They did not. But I bought it anyway. It contains all the essential information of required psych nursing textbooks, and more. And it fits into your pocket. I had big pockets, deliberately, so I could fit this in. Seriously, this is a treat. My psych nursing professor saw me pull it out of my pocket when we were in post clinical conference, and she stopped talking and asked me about this book. One of the rare occasions when I saw her smile! :-)
