This review is from: Nursing Diagnosis Cards (Misc. Supplies)
Taylor and Sparks-Ralph have put together some great cards in the tenth edition. I now have the eleventh edition set which includes the *five new NANDA-approved* nursing diagnoses. (So if you are about to purchase these 10th edition cards you might want to wait for the 11th edition.) If you can't wait, they will still serve you well. Either case, you should know these new diagnoses because any good nurse educator (NE) will expect you to use, when applicable of course, the new NANDA nursing diagnoses.
These cards, in my opinion, are one of the most easy accessible tools for writing 'Satisfactory' care plans according to your NE (which actually means Perfect--consider yourself warned.) They include all you need to write effective and care plans: diagnoses, R/T (related to) and AEB (as evidenced by.) Also included are the interventions and rationales for your care plan success as well as expected outcomes (my NE for clinical last semester wanted the short-term goal to be something achievable during my shift, so you can reword these to "Client will demonstrate ... during my shift.") For further information to read before and apply in clinical are assessment guidelines and documentation. Associated medical diagnoses are also listed which aids me greatly in learning what diagnosis is 'likely' to go hand-in-hand with it.
To new nursing students, know that when it comes to being prepared to write 'Satisfactory' care plans (which, as mentioned previously actually means Perfect), it is always smart to have more than one diagnoses reference simply because each client has individualized needs and you'll learn more about how to meet them if you have more than one reference.
The only gripe I have with these cards is the quality. Forty-nine cent index cards are sturdier! It would have been nice if the paper was of a higher quality; however, the carrying case should keep them in good shape and the fact that they are light weight does make them equipped for fast and easy use.
Soar!
