Very helpful book. Good review for those who have been out of school for a long time.

I purchased this book to possibly use in the course that I teach for direct-entry midwives in the U.S. I found the material well laid out, and the illustrations excellent. The sound recordings were clear. There was an introduction to each sound presented on the recording, so that someone wanting to get familiar with the sounds by listening repeatedly, would be reviewing pertinent information at the same time. As a result this book is great for someone just beginning to learn about heart sounds.

Although I did not purchase the book for the lung sounds part, that part of the book is also very well laid out, with many excellent diagrams.

I bought this book to help me while teaching a nursing class at a local college. The book itself is informative, but the CD - which was the main reason I bought the book - was dissappointing. The sound segments were too short and quickly ran into the next one making it hard to understand. My students were not pleased with the CD.

This book is well written and it provides a good review of basic principles important for the assessment, identification and interpretation of heart and lung sounds.
