4.0 out of 5 stars A must for nursing mamas, October 27, 2007
This review is from: Nursing Sun Dress in Black & Pink (Apparel)
As it is nearly impossible to find full-length dresses out there with easy access for nursing, my relief at finding this one weighs heavily in on my level of satisfaction with the dress. It's actually pretty and rather flattering--the fabric is substanial, which my post-pregnancy body appreciates, though as a mom with multiple children, I would REALLY love to find a dress in the same cut in a washable rayon perhaps, anything to avoid having to have it drycleaned. I live in a hot climate and like to wear dresses casually, so this wasn't just for special occasions for me. Again, it's pretty and very versatile...wish I had more!
On the negative side, the zipper nursing openings provide great access but are hard to open and close with one hand (while holding a baby and trying to shield your breast from full-view)--you have to hold the fabric taught to move the zipper up or down, sometimes I have used my TEETH to hold the dress in place in order to close it, all while balancing the baby in the other arm and trying to make sure my breast isn't spilling out. The openings are a clever idea, if not the most discrete. I find it works best to wear a light cardigan sweater to help provide a little cover.
I have also had issues with stitching coming loose beneath the zipper-openings as well as other seams (had same issue with 4 other dresses from same company). Again, because this is one of the ONLY full-length dresses I found that wasn't horridly frumpy, I just repair it as best I can. I did have a different dress from Nursing Mamas with an entire back seam that frayed loose (the first time I wore it, pretty embarrassing) that I was not able to repair--customer service left something to be desired to say the least--they simply did not respond, even after I wrote a letter. Again, love the concept, love that SOMEONE has nursing moms in mind, love that they're making an effort to offer pretty, feminine dresses with breastfeeding access. Would like to see more fabrics, more color/print options, more user-friendly (washable!!) dresses, and of course, good seams!

The black and pink nursing dress was exactly as described -- great for dressing up as well as slightly more casual wear. I wore this dress to a fairly formal summer wedding, and it was perfect for the occasion.

The fit and look of the dress is great. It also seems sturdy and well made. I plan to continue wearing it even when I'm finished nursing!
The dress does have to be dry cleaned. I believe that was stated in the description.

It is hard to find nice plus-sized nursingwear, and I'm really glad I found Nursing Mamas.
