Good general journal, poor service,
This review is from: Nursing (Magazine)
Nursing is a well rounded, easy-to-read journal. Nursing's focus is the practical side of nursing, and most of its topics relate to actual patient care or clinical skills. The magazine itself is a great general nursing journal, and I would recommend it to all nurses. The service, however, was not so great. I ordered this magazine through Amazon in August. Received the first issue the end of October. Soon after, I received the issues for July, August, September--4 magazines in one month. I am told that these issues count toward my 12 annual issues. I had already read these issues--they were given to me by a friend back in their prospective months of publication!! Now I'm being docked for issues I've already read. Not so great a deal when you consider I'm only receiving 8 issues for the purchase price.

Nursing Magazine - Great basic nursing magazine,
By Susan F. (Yorktown Heights, New York United States) - See all my reviews

Nursing magazine is something I enjoy reading every month. It helps keep me current with the ever changing world of medicine and nursing. I am a clinical research nurse so I don't do true bedside nursing any longer. I do however have direct patient contact and keeping up with new medications, procedures, etc. is very important. Being a research nurse you develop a close relationship with most patients. You deal with the same patients for years sometimes depending on the study they are involved with. I need to keep current because these patients rely on me to be there for them and have answers. I read many journals, and Nursing is great for the basics.

Magazine great, annoyed with publisher,
This review is from: Nursing (Magazine)
This is a really great magazine for all levels of learning/nursing. As a student, I am able to learn a great deal from it. The publisher sent me 6 months worth of back issues as part of the 12 monthly issues that I ordered! I would have rather had my subscription run for the entire year instead of having 6 issues in one month and need to pay to renew this again so soon!

quality journal...slow order processing,
This review is from: Nursing (Magazine)
I was disappointed that it took months to process my subscription. I don't know if the delay was amazon.com or Nursing2006. I placed my order in November and did not receive it until late February. I am very pleased with the content of the journal though.

Great magazine but poor custumer service,
By yo-misma (Puerto Rico) - See all my reviews

I've had a one year subscription. Firt issue came with not problems but eventually issues stopped coming.I called custumers services (CS) and they send me a duplicate from the previous issue plus the current one. Then I realize that the issues weren't coming and called CS again!!! (which doesn't have bilingual personnel in order to express myself better).By the way, the renewal reminders doesn't have any delays which bothers me a lot.Indeed, I have to deal with CS 3 or 4 times. It's a shame that such a good publication had such a bad service.

Good solid RN magazine, good info/ basics,
By gilly8 "gilly8" (Mars, the hotspot of the U.S.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nursing (Magazine)
Having worked for over 30 years now as an RN, in a variety of settings, I must say that over the years I've both subscribed to this magazine, or read it if someone else brought their copies into the RN area of the workspace.
I've found the articles to be helpful, especially on new technology or new "how-to" advice, with photographs as well as written descriptions of the situation. They also always have an article written by a working RN on some event, good or bad, sad or funny, which happened to her/him and which for a student or new nurse would be a great insight into "real" RN life. I'd place this magazine in between the "Incredibly Easy" series of books and their new magazine, in terms of accessability for new RN's and students; and then AJN as the most "serious" of the three, and likely not to have much in it for the beginner. I saw that many reviewers had problems with delivery. I never have. Maybe it should be ordered directly FROM Lippincott? I don't know, I would order mine using the phone number or tear off cardboard mailer inside the magazine if, say, I'd skipped a couple of years and wanted to re-order. Unlike the firm belief of most hospital administrators (!) that "a nurse is a nurse is a nurse" in these times of specialization in every area it is good to have a pile of magazines like this, or others, to refer to if a person is suddenly asked to "fill in" in the X area which is an area the RN may NEVER have been in before! By the way, I don't know WHY they cannot manage to change the confusing photograph on the cover of the "Nursing 2008" magazine used to advertise it here on Amazon....each year, with this magazine, the name changes to the current year. So, now, you'd be subscribing to "Nursing 2011" and so on, each year. Recommended, as well as the "Incredibly Easy" series of books for RN's.

Great Magazine, Great Service,

The reviews on not receiving all issues seem out of date. I subscribed to Nursing2010 mid-year and not only did they send me the previous issues I did not need to pay for but my subscription continued for a full year. Maybe the difference is that I ordered from the LWW website. If you have a code from one of their magazine inserts you get a great discount. It has been a fantastic resource for me as a new nurse with interesting, up-to-date articles. I find them very relevant to most nursing areas. I have loved reading them!

I've received the Nursing magazines for years and have enjoyed learning new things and keeping updated about my profession. I recently have gotten my renewal notice from the publisher. I've been procrastinating renewing my subscription. I love the magazine, but the cost is over $50 - including shipping and handling. I was pleased to find the magazine at Amazon with a greatly reduced price.
As for the reviews about the back issues, the publisher has done that to me before also, it is not just with the Amazon offer. I'm happy to be able to continue receiving the Nursing magazine.

I subscribed to this magazine from the advice of one of my clinical instructors, and I am so very happy that she suggested it to us. I will be a lifetime subscriber to this magazine now! Not only does it publish very relevant articles (which seem to corralate nicely to my classes), it also contains full write ups on popular new medications. In fact, by subscribing to this magaizine, I was actually able to educate my pharmacology teacher about a new medication, that she had not yet heard of. I consider this magazine a very worth while investment, and I look forward to getting a new issue every month!
