This review is from: Nurturing Attachments: Supporting Children Who Are Fostered or Adopted (Paperback)
Wow, I can't believe no one else has yet written a review of this book. As a child psychologist who works primarily with foster and adopted children and their families, this book is one of my top recommendations. While many books address the issue of attachment, few do so in a manner that truly helps parents understand how to facilitate the process with their child. This book, on the other hand, describes the process in great depth, helping parents to better appreciate how to strengthen attachment relations with their child.
Our knowledge of how to effectively treat children with attachment issues has grown substantially in recent years. This book includes information on how to implement effective mental health treatment to foster and adopted children and their families. As such, it is a must-have for any clinician who works with this population. Christopher J. Alexander, Ph.D. (Author, 'Diagnosis, Assessment, and Treatment of Foster and Adopted Children; A Guide for Parents and Practitioners,' 2009). |
