Harville Hendrix, PhD, coauthor of Giving the Love That Heals

I began reading this book when my dear family was going through a difficult time.

After reading this book, I looked at my family with different eyes. Renee's book gently took me by the hand and reminded me that, yes, I do have hope, and yes, I do have power. Her exercises, practical tools and encouragement inspired me to keep taking those baby steps to nurture my family, trusting that those seeds would grow and bear fruit. She re-encouraged me to live by my values - which are counter to our culture - and to give myself the support to honor them.

I slowly put back into practice the things that nurtured my family's soul. It helped me find my caring again when I was feeling worn down and tired by the long days and years of motherhood.

I recommend it for all mamas.

Disclosure: I was given a copy of Renee Trudeau's book to read and to review, and the opinions expressed were my own!

I have been blessed with reading several great books this year, and they have been ones where I totally felt like I was there nodding "yes, I can relate to that!" Sometimes, I wasn't sure if it was because I was a bit older than her and had been through similar circumstances that she had in my own family, or it was because I was a parent, too! And it didn't matter what faith I was, as I read the book, because I could apply what I read to circumstances in my life with my husband and son. I was eager to learn more and found each chapter to be a learning experience! Most of the time that I was spending reading her book was spent in doctor's offices for a few weeks, and many of my "aha" moments occurred there, too.

Here are a few things that you will learn as you read Renee's book:
* find your center and move through chaos and uncertainty with renewed strength and ease

* live every day aligned with your values and what matters most

* slow down, tap the wisdom of your wise self, and know what's best for you and your family

* release old habits, fears, and anxieties as you explore a new way of being

* access more joy by living in the present moment (the best antidote to stress!)

*experience more freedom and unscheduled time

Some sections that I found interesting where when she encouraged one to cultivate curiosity and to listen without judgement, and sometimes those are two areas that are hard for me. Her book is definitely a think and talk about things book, and in turn, you do find ways of reconnecting with yourself and others within your family.

Renee Trudeau has created an incredibly compassionate guide for mothers and families looking to live a more harmonious and connected life. Her first book, "The Mother's Guide to Self-Renewal" was wonderful, and "Nurturing the Soul of Your Family" is a great new resource.

Renee's shares wisdom and practical strategies to help you connect with your family, your self, nature--all the things that are truly important. She will show you how to enjoy the life that is unfolding before you, which is one of the best gifts that a parent can receive.

I have written extensively about self-care in my own role as "Mojo Mom" and I greatly respect that Renee has done an amazing job of diving deep and making this the focus of her life's work. You are in great hands with Renee and I highly recommend "Nurturing the Soul of Your Family" for yourself and all the mothers in your life.

I bought this book first on my Kindle, which is what I do when I predict that a book might be okay, but not wonderful. By the time I was a quarter of the way through, I'd ordered a hard copy.

Trudeau is a gifted and beautiful writer, and I found so much useful content in this book that it's hard to narrow it down to even a few things worth commenting on. Reading this book gave me a road map for a vibrant, healthy family, and I am so grateful I stumbled upon it. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Finally the proof that you can love yourself and take care of the ones you love too! Thank you Renee for writing this manual of self care and self compassion for moms everywhere. This is the kind of book that you want to get for yourself and the moms you love. Imagine if moms everywhere could take care of themselves without guilt - how much happier their families and they would be. Renee Trudeau shows us how that is possible.

Last week I attended "Nurture Your Soul: A mini self-renewal retreat" with Renee Trudeau in Houston, TX. Since the retreat, I have been reading daily from Renee's new book "Nurturing the Soul of Your Family." The retreat and Renee's book are exactly what I needed to help me move into a new space of calm and clarity of purpose.

Renee Trudeau's newest book is an important read for anyone raising a young family. In light of the massive changes that technology has imposed on our culture, Renee grabs the "bull by the horns" and offers important insights and strategies for managing with the complexities of modern day family life. With interesting and important recollections of her own life in a family both loving and complicated, Trudeau adds an earthy, informative, and meaningful amount of self-disclosure that convinces the reader of her genuine understanding of the imperfections and necessities of trying your best each day while knowing that nothing is perfect, including parenting. While some of the content may be impossible to apply to a particular home or family (especially a family with more than 1 child) it is the over all messages of self-care for parents, determining your families values and living them with your children, and finding ways to correct mistakes that I was most impressed with. I was especially taken by a story she told about having treated her son unkindly one morning and then writing him an apology note which she dropped off at his school later that same day. How many of us ever even had an apology form a parent, let alone a note in writing?! It is this kind of attention to civility and respect that runs through the book that I found both refreshing and helpful. In an age where so many of us feel over-run by the bigger world that surrounds us and which feels so infiltrating, it is reassuring to read that there really are things we have control over and one of them is our manners and respect for one another. This book would make a wonderful gift for an expectant or new new family or for an established family that is feeling as though they've lost their traction as parents.
