As a Pagan Parent, it is hard to find creative ideas to inspire my children to look deep within themselves for answers without teaching any religious philosophy. This book allows my children so many hands on activities that they can relate to the real world and apply to their spiritual self.

From words which are powerful to teaching compassion and a sense of God, this provides an excellent set of workbook experiences.

We use this book in our Junior Church Program when we want to demonstrate a concept. Well laid out book with an idea for each week. Combined with a story it makes for a well rounded lesson. The demosntrations work well in a mixed age group.

This book would make a wonderful gift for a parent or teacher working with children from toddler to about junior high age. It is filled with ideas, exercises, and crafts that explain basic moral principles or ideas. The starting one is about smiling and the importance of passing along a smile. To demonstrate this simple idea, have children hold a straw between their teeth without the lips touching it. This creates a smile! Try it...a smile is the only thing you can get when doing this exercise.
So simple exercises or demonstrations or crafts lead to wonderful activities, discussions, and deeper understandings of spiritual values. This is not a "Christisn" based book. It is an EVERYTHING book. ANY spiritual belief can be easily applied to the structure of this book. It is not about religion or religious beliefs, but about spirituality. So this book can be used at home, in the day care center, church Sunday school classes, temple or anywhere and with any belief.

I absolutely love love this book and have shared it with many of my friends and family members as a powerful and engaging way to introduce universal spiritual truths and concepts to children, pre-teens, and even adults. This book strikes a cord in all of us who believe that we are all part of one human family, striving to understand our noble nature and how to involve our younger generation in building a better world. The messages in each of the 5-10 minute lessons are so universally accepted whether you are religious or not. Highly hightly recommend this book!!

Whether for presentation to children or adults, Jenkins, PhD clearly gives activities which demonstrates even the most difficult of spiritual principles. For any sensory strength type (see, hear, touch, etc.) to rememember the bottom line of the reality of spirit. Have fun!

Thoughtful book, non-denominational; excellent, short, open-ended activities. Plan to use in our Unitarian Universalist RE classes.
