5.0 out of 5 stars Philharmonia Had Become Widely, November 3, 2008
By Aung Htun "www.amazon.com/shops/ahtun" (1022 1/2 Stophlet St. Fort Wayne IN 46802-4318) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
"The Philharmonia Orchestra gave its first concert at London's Kingsway Hall under Sir Thomas Beecham in October 1945.
In founding the Philharmonia, Walter Legge achieved his great ambition to form a world-class orchestra in London.
In very little time, the PHILHARMONIA HAD BECOME WIDELY recognized as one of the world's truly great orchestras, and was able to attract such legendary conductors as Furtwangler, Toscanini, Cantelli, Richard Strauss, and Herbert von Karajan, who became its principal conductor."
